4 managers. 5 seasons. All different styles. Total of £200mill+ net spend. Top 5 in the league in 5 years for spending. One outcome - underperforming squad.

Who's the fraud? The managers who get 18 months or the players that have been here for 5 seasons?

Just wanting to know cos we play the manager merrigoround all we want, if the squad isn't good enough, it's not good enough.
The squad is poor. No getting away from that. The board has to shoulder a lot of blame for sanctioning some very poor recruitment.

So one short spell of about 2 months when we hired fat Sam, means our aim in general has been to stay in the league? We haven't even been close to being relegated since the early Moyes days.

Carlo has had a nightmare and trying to justify the fact he couldn't be bothered to do the job he said he would ( don't particularly blame him for going Madrid btw ) but just could have handled the whole thing better and with a bit more class.
We were 6 points off bottom mate, he was brought to avoid relegation. That’s a fact, you can’t dress it up

If there's any proof that Carlo is a fraud it is this. It's one thing to tell Ronaldo and Benzema to 'just play', you'll probably win a championship league without breaking a sweat. Tell Gomes and Iwobi to 'just play' and you see what happened towards the end of last season.

The warning signs were already there from his time at Bayern when he would apprently not coach them at all. We just fell in love with a name and nothing more.
Trying to convince myself of this.

He hardly set the world alight this season. A good coach will have any group of players putting in performances above their level. Fair to say we've not seen that this season.

These players who are considering their futures can do one as far as I'm concerned. If they feel like that (and it's not just speculation) they will be a liability going forward.

We need a squad of players who are hungry and a gaffer that takes no nonsense. Very hard to get these days where all the power is in the hands of the players and agents are constantly in their ears advising them on the next move.

The criticism against Ancelotti has always been that he gives the players too much freedom, the training sessions have too low intensity and are not very tactical, favor experienced players, and that he has a relatively low work ethic. All this is well known.

However, he has always had a very good relationship with the star players. When Zlatan and Ronaldo are told to do as they please, it works quite well - at least for a while. And they think the manager is fantastic. But this is old news.

This is the point though, it works for a team with star players. Not Everton. And unless we were planning on buying 5/6 star players this summer (a long shot given no Europe) then we would have had no chance next season either. Carlo doesn't work with a team that isn't a ready made champions League winning side

You don't know what transfer plans he had. We had no Europe and brought in James.

He will have an idea of who wasn't good enough and needed replacing. Now that's gone out the window

There is no doubt that recruitment has been too poor. However, if you have a group of students who are at risk of failing in the subject, then the teacher can not tell the students just explore the topics and find out for yourself. This is when the teacher should shine, and use the knowledge we pay him / her for. These students need an even more structured and organized teaching method, and where the teacher must be creative to get them interested. Ancelotti was always a bad match for Everton, because he is not a teacher, but more a galleon figure who depends on a group of independent students.

I doubt the board were happy to see him go, but I’d imagine they wanted more of an immediate return for the money they were paying him.

Maybe, maybe not these are all rumors atm so we don't really know for sure but the club seemed to change they way they wanted to do things with ancelotti.

Spending on exspensive short term fixes for instant success and the return was 10th place and the worst football ive seen at everton in a very long time. I doubt the board were very happy with it.

Yes, it may work for a shorter period of time, but it does not work in the long run. His league record in Milan is catastrophically bad, although Berlusconi did everything he could to give him star players. The same pattern is seen in other clubs he has been manager of.

He got our highest points total (59) behind Koeman's first season (61) since Martinez' first (72) and has our best win percentage in the premier league.

We need to admit that last season was the squads limit.

When you look at some of the performances or 2nd half performances, The "just play" quote sounds quite believable to be fair.

See my previous posts.

If we're talking about it as failing students, surely they have a limit of where they can go? That limit was 59 points and this season 10th.

It's almost like getting Oscar Pistorius to outrun Usain Bolt because he eclipsed his division. There's only a ceiling he can get to.
