I said serve up the same dirge.

I’m quite confident the likes of Sean Dyche would have us between 8th-12th for a much lower wage.
You are probably right that Dyche would have this squad in mid table. Fat Sam too , perhaps even Pulis.

If that's what you want from Everton then good luck.

Most of us want more and recognise that it cannot be achieved overnight and that there will undoutabely be bumps in the road.

Yes I find some of the tactics and selections a bit baffling at times but we have to stick with it because the alternative is not something that I want to consider.

We haven't been saying a "couple more windows" with one of the best managers of a generation at the helm.

Look at what he managed to attract in just one window! James Rodriguez, a galactico! And Brands got him on a free!

I understand the frustration and the constant feeling of being let down, but we need to break the knee-jerk cycle.

I truly believe that stability is the key and patience is important. Yes, Carlo will get it wrong because he is trying to force the issue, force a squad that is overall weak to compete in Europe. But as long as he keeps trying different things then I'll take the good (an undefeated start) with the bad (a Steve Bruce masterclass) while he builds during the windows.

I totally agree with these points as do a lot of others who have been critical of ancelotti. I think the biggest gripe with most at the moment is that despite injuries. Everton have still have a better 11 on the pitch than the following teams. Southampton, Newcastle, fulham, leeds. Yet have been edged out the opponents in all them fixtures with the exception of fulham which many would agree was a fortunate win in the end.

And then lost convincingly at home to a man utd side who were on a terrible run at the time and as said by their manager were set up to fail in the everton game due to timing of the fixture yet everton couldn't capitalise.

So it's more a case of, why is ancelotti losing all these battles in what are considered favourable fixtures. It says to me that opposing managers are working harder with their teams than he and also are outwitting him tactically. That is the cause for concern at this present time

I actually don't think I've read anything more ridiculous on this site and there's some absolute wham spoken on here.

A manager who's won every trophy going, has won three trophies in the premier league alone, isn't as good a manager as one who has spent most of his managerial career in the spotlight of the other Madrid. Ok, good luck with that one.

Some people in here are making out that Ancelloti's success is a generation ago which is absolutely not true.
Reality is that we've a squad so uneven that it might as well be a the go compare man on a see-saw with a dwarf. We all know that so to imply any other manager would have us winning the league in his first season is absolute nonsense.
Horses for courses mate. Conte won the prem with chelsea, di matteo won the champs league with chelsea. Would you want di matteo here now?

Put perspective into the arguement. I would argue that david moyes finishing 5th with everton 2 seasons out of 3 towards the end of his tenure was akin to winning the league against the other 15 best teams in England as it was impossible for everton to go higher than that at that point of time due to the overwhelming financial gulf between everton and the teams above. And constantly losing our best players to them teams above. So that for me is an amazing achievement.

Yet most evertonians will call Moyes stale or don't want him because he showed some ambition by joining Man Utd. West ham are now fifth, everton are looking worse game by game. Yet the majority still don't see it?

Is moyes just being lucky? .... I think not, you give him the tools and he will get the maximum. Ancelotti doesn't have the tools at Everton, the only way he will succeed I'd think is if we were to sign Ronaldo and messi

As usual though, the victories covered up the cracks.

Fulham should have beaten us, it took a red card for us to claw it back against WBA at home, and it took a penalty to beat Palace. The only convincing victory was against Brighton and we still managed to concede two. The Spurs win was a good performance, I guess, albeit against an out-of-sorts team who would smash us if they played us at the weekend.

All of the cup games were easy fixtures and told us nothing.

No it didn’t you strange man, we were 2-1 up when he got sent off.

Truth of the matter is we were struggling and didn't look like we were going to beat them with ease. We were being overrun by them and could hardly cope with their counter attacks. Thankfully the red card allowed us to grab the narrowest of victories. Hardly a ringing endorsement of our hugely expensively-assembled squad versus relegation fodder, at home.

What?? The game was over with half an hour left you melt.

That's true, I'm sorry, I actually thought we won 3-2 ;). But even then we still went to sleep and conceded another.

In any case you're moving away from my point which is that several of our wins have been either barely deserved or with the aid of VAR, and that we should be doing much better. That we are sixth/eighth really is remarkable given how we've performed.

Let's hope improvements are on the horizon.

we are currently 8th to be fair mate, chance to go 4th for a few hours tomorrow at least

6th, 8th, whatever. Position actually means nowt at the moment.

More concerning is the shocking football we've been served up recently. I'm sure the manager is concerned too about our inability to even avoid defeat. It's really been Silva-esque efforts by the squad in the past month, which really is as bad as it gets.
