We are too big a club to be a training ground for young managers... apart from anything else it is usually too big a job for somebody without a deal of managerial experience.

Hopefully Moshiri has learned that by appointing a quality manager it makes you money rather than costs you money.

I look now at Keane, DCL, Minna, Richarlison, Gomes in particular who in the space of just a few weeks have all increased their transfer values because of the team winning matches.

Iwobi and Bernard as well have done well in the cup and their stock has risen as well.

Our squad is now worth a lot more than it was at the end of last season because of a few wins and the feelgood factor brought about by a quality manager.

Spot on;).

I've always said since Martinez went we got Aldi versions of top managers.

Koeman - Aldi Mourinho
Silva - Aldi Pochettino

They were calculated gambles on them possibly working out. They didn't

The only option next was to actually go for caliber and we did
I was honestly quite chuffed to get Koeman, Southampton had a nice little team together and were playing some decent stuff little did I know it would set us back about 5 seasons appointing him.
Silva was just Moshiri trying to look a smart arse with a hip young manager playing da beautiful game in a beautiful way.

I hope that our 3 superstars keep improving the existing ones too...if Iwobi, Sigurdsson, Bernard and Kean improve it'll be amazing, and if Nkounkou keeps pushing Digne who gets even better, Gomes improves...wow. We are lucky.

I think its unfair on Bernard to be honest as I personally rate him. He's played poorly coming on as a sub since he started getting dropped but I watched most of the games last season when we were at our worst, and he was the only player who could create something and make things happen (in truly terrible teams) while always giving it his all.
Kind of player that I was excited to see on the teamsheet when I went to Goodison last year, at which he received a well-deserved standing ovation. Then he started getting dropped...
Perhaps he's not following instructions properly or something I don't know, but it seems to be accepted wisdom that he's crap now and although I'm going only on my own instincts which may well prove to be wrong, I do think if given a fair crack he will be a great player for us.
But you can't expect players who have been dropped from the first team to then come on as substitutes with full confidence. I learned that well enough at schoolboy level football, so one can only imagine what it's like at their level!

But alas for now I will defer to Don Carlos moderately more experienced judgment!

Not for me. Never convinced by them before they joined.

I don’t get this young manager thing it’s nonsense, a myth. We win because our current manager is class and has records to back him up.

Employing Silva and Martinez was not a strategy. We were going down with them in charge.

Yeah, i'm just trying to work this out because all 5 managers are very very different, and somehow only now we landed on Ancelotti. Its all worked out for the right time and hopefully it all happened for a reason

Was there not an article about the time we appointed Carlo that said Moshiri sounded him out in the past? Personally I think the managerial recruitment was so random because the club had been operating in the Moyes/Martinez market, i.e so called up and coming managers and they didn’t really know what to aim for. Koeman had done very well at Saints but his track record at other clubs wasn’t amazing. Big Sam was a panic appointment and I think Moshiri was very rash in appointing Silva (in hindsight).

Hopefully we really kick on now under Carlo as we need a bit of optimism after the last few years.

Funny what a top class manager does for you.

Under Silva they would have sat deep and absolutely fell apart after conceding a goal like that as soon as the 2nd half started..
