This morning, I've been talking with my eldest about Kendall and how he is our best manager ever and an idol for me. She asked, "Who is better: Kendall or Carlo?"

It set me back really. For the club, it is Howard every day and the sentiment around him is unrivalled, but in terms of overall I'm not so sure - Carlo is a legend.

I just hope he can become an Everton legend, too.

In terms of overall, Carlo is miles ahead really.
Not to us, but objectively.

I know he is, but the subjective blue-tinted glasses makes it difficult to not choose Howard. Carlo is one of the best managers of the last twenty-odd years!

Howard took an Everton team going nowhere and bested one of the greatest Liverpool teams of all time. Carlo has got a similar task on his hands now so let’s see if he is up to it because unfortunately he may have to be just as brilliant as Howard was to get us back to the level of challenging for the title.

I think Heysel has to be taken into consideration. I honestly believe Howard would have had a legacy to match Alex Ferguson had that dreadful event not occurred.
The club win European Cups and continues to dominate in England ahead of the Premier League Era.

Instead the side broke up, seeking European football, and we never truly recovered.

Carlo is the first manager we have had who is capable of taking this club back to that point in 85.

These are the mini milestones we need to pass though, whether it’s today or not, we have to get the derby win, the same as we did the win away at a top 6 team. Only through getting these monkeys off our back can this team ever hope to win a trophy. Like it or not if we keep being half decent we will be coming up against this Liverpool team in cups and in big league games. We have to show them we can beat them so that we can beat them in the future.

I love Howard like any Evertonian but to rival Ferguson? Nah. While we had money and a lack of competition meaning the players wanted to go to us or them we would have kept going, winning a few trophies here and there, but If Howard was a Ferguson type he would have done much better in his second spell. We were still hanging onto the coat tails of the top at that point so we had a solid base to start from. Some managers burn out quicker than others, like Clough (poss Jose?) and I think Howard was one of those.

That's not a put down by the way, he is still our greatest manager, just the comparison imho isn't there. God bless him for what he did for our football club.

Has to be Howard every time.
Liverpool had dominated English football for years, Kendall broke the chain and put silverware in the cupboard.
When Carlo has won trophies (for Everton), we can justify putting him in the same bracket as Howie.
This is purely Everton based, I love Ancellotti and all that he has done so far and what he has achieved in the game.

The job Kendall did in his first spell here, winning it all before the age of 40 is better than any job Ancelotti did. He should never have been allowed to leave, another catastrophic mistake from the cub really, he could and should have built a dynasty and stayed for 20+ years like Ferguson did. Lots of thing happened to both with were regrettable, but maybe could have been avoided had that occured? Who knows.

However, Kendalls career peaked at 40. Across his whole career Ancelotti has been better. He has had eaier jobs, and more support in those jobs, but the trophies don't lie.
