It's easier to not lose by playing your best team and going a goal up, than playing the same proven bunch of losers and going a goal or two down and expecting by half-fit subs to turn the game around for you.

This is fair comment. Just as fair, however, is comment suggesting in September and again in January that our squad is just not deep enough in so many areas to account for the inevitable injuries and suspensions that we will suffer and are suffering. That didn't prevent a significant coterie of the fanbase talking us up for top four.

All we're seeing today is the chickens coming home to roost. Coleman, a proven loser in derbies, is back in the line-up when right-back has been a weak position for at least three years now. So, while I sympathise hugely with Carlo, he can expect to endure quite a bit of criticism over the coming weeks as our season unravels predictably.

...we were poor when Rodriguez played instead of Sigurdsson against Newcastle but I don’t suppose he’ll be getting close to Richarlison anyway.
