I was in America and was watching the super bowl with the giants. Every time the play stopped a full blown advertisement played. Every single time. Then a show after it analysing the advertising.
It was the biggest display of unhinged capitalism I've ever seen. Atrocious.
That's pretty much why I can't be bothered with it.
As I promised a few days ago, I did go on you tube and study the rules and whatnot.
After learning they have multiple gos to move the ball forward 10 yards, it sounds like Allardyce levels of negativity.
Couple that with adverts evety minute or so, what's the point?

I remember been astonished. Any yank I met I would ask how can they watch it. Many got really offended and turned on me. Like I set off some manchurian trigger of capitalism and they just defend it with zeal. Even a homeless bum got uppity.
They have their people right where they need them.

I totally agree. That's why I don't watch american football, my husband does. I can't stand spending 3 hours watching a game that's an hour long but gets extended for 2 or more extra hours so the NFL can bombard you with unnecessary advertising so the masses can continue consuming more. I don't even watch cable TV (unless I'm watching our football or at times the news) nor allow our daughter to do so because I dislike how advertising creates all these desires of wanting to consume more, buy more. Children are especially vulnerable to sophisticated advertising thus the reason I try to keep our daughter away from it.

Christ 3 hours yeah. If Americans put up with that, not only, but aggressively defend it if you bring it up. Socialisism in the states has its work cut out.

Americans not only put up with it but they embrace it. They love their commercials that's the reason during the super bowl companies spent millions of dollars on a one minute advertising because they know some Americans only watch the super bowl because they want the opportunity to watch silly commercials. Some aspects of this society are truly twisted.
