Transfer Rumour Carney Chukwuemeka

I can't see a world where Moyes is going to pay 40m for him. On fairness Thelwell wouldn't either.

I wonder if it's being driven by Chelsea.

You see a lot of talented teenagers, but being a PL 22/23 year old is a different question.

I also wonder if it's part of an agreement re Broja too. Like we will give you your money for Broja, but we want this lad on loan?

It's all about a reasonable buy price for me mate, we shouldn't loan in any player unless the intention and option to purchase them is part of the deal - unless it's a veteran on ridiculous wages we use as a one year stopgap.

We are no longer broke, thus, anybody coming in should be with the intent of evaluating then at a low risk/cost but with the intention of securing them should they work out (see Lindstrom).

Btw there's a few lads I mentioned during the summer that are imo ideal for this type of transaction, Bove at Roma after what happened I'd love for us to bring in during the summer (he'd be a freei believe) and sensibly see if he's able to return the same as before the heart attack. Ebimbe at Frankfurt I do really like although he's hardly playing this year and really out of favour there - strange one for me that as I do really think he's talented and still young (just turned 23) and versatile.
Mcatee, Chubawamba 😂, The Senegalese lad at Strasbourg. Fellows,

A lot of decent players who'd improve us around

He's a really talented lad like, but valuating him as the same as they paid for Cole Palmer is a joke, similarly when you have reports Mcatee would cost around 20-25m for a player whose actually played two seasons as a starter on loan in the champ and prem for Sheffield United and has European starts for city under his belt, yeah I thought the valuation they'd stuck on Broja was a joke, but this is worse - well similar tbh.

Yes that's fair.

Realistically we were never going to pay that for Broja. I think Broja has done well when he's played, but is so injury prone it was a mistake from Thelwell, going against what he's done throughout his time here.

I think this lad is a risk. Like honestly, has he had as many good games as Tim in the PL?

Yea I agree with this. A lot of the noise has changed around us as well hasn't it? Like a lot of people are saying we now have some money to spend, and honestly probably a bit of wriggle room PSR wise as well.

I actually think lads like Mangala are ok for loans. He fills a spot and we are not committed to him. I think there'll be a few of them about in the summer too, as sides like to offload players.

I'll be honest, I've got no idea who we go for, but think it could be left field. I think this Edwards guy might be one we go for though.

It's funny though, like I've never heard Moyes as bold about transfers as this. Like almost indignantly saying "we will be bringing players in".

Loan is pointless unless it contains an option to buy, option to buy is pointless if Chelsea are asking for double what they paid villa for him 40m on top of a loan fee this season.

Lads played less than 1,000 minutes total of league football, Chelsea reckons less than 600 minutes across 35 games turns a 20m player into one worth 40m.

Nah he's talented but sorry 40m is the type of fee you pay for a top player or a generational prospect
Arguably he is a generational prospect TBH

Probably not going to happen

But ye who condemn his footballing ability; be warned - this guy is a special player imo

Before his injury, was first name on the team sheet as a box to box 8/#10. On paper, discarding injury concerns, his talent is definitely one hundred percent worth £40m. I actually think £40m is snip

If you know, you know

Isn't that about the price Palmer went for last year too? His experience was probably similar then to what Carney's is now. Similar levels of talent between the two too. Although obviously that's no guarantee Carney will ever reach Palmer's level.
