The problem for Tosun is there's a mismatch for physical performance at peak age. His physical performance can only head south, he doesn't have the speed of thought to compensate nor the ability to make the right movement.

Kinda see what your saying here,but also feel even in his younger days athleticism was not one of his strong points.

Athleticism isn't all that important if you have speed of thought and movement. Is Harry Kane athletic? No, it's his speed of thought that sets him apart.
