Still maintain he's not a terrible footballer, just not cut out for a club that wants top 6 like we do. Don't like him one bit as a person though after all that military saluting on international duty, stuff like that doesn't belong in a football stadium. Just send him back out again on loan as soon as he's fit and hopefully we'll find a club who will take him, don't want a character like that around the club in any capacity.

Doesn’t deserve any hate. He’s a decent player and a good finisher, just not a prem level athlete. Desperate signing who unsurprisingly didn’t work out.

.....I don’t dislike the lad, it’s not his fault he was brought into the club on a lucrative contract. I have no issue with him seeing his deal out if that’s what he decides but I don’t think he’s a particularly good finisher. He’s actually missed some very decent chances on the rare occasion he gets game time. 9 in 44 for us, 1 in 5 for Palace.

He’s just an ordinary striker.

In the right system he is a 10-12 goals a season striker which is okay if you are happy to finish somewhere between 8th to 14th. However we don't play a system that suits him and we have loftier ambitions. I hope he gets fit in time for us to sell him in the winter window at the latest. He works hard but unfortunately sometimes that is not enough. Also I want him gone because of all the gobbing off he did whilst on loan. My biggest concern is he is saying he us happy to go out on loan if he can't get in here which shows he knows he is never getting the money he is on with us anywhere else.

I agree with all of this, accept I would say I think he is quite a good finisher, particularly with his head. The problem is, he just doesn't get into the position enough. Like Jelavic before him, to a degree Soldado at Spurs, they were good finishers but the power and pace of the league was just too much.

He was a very strange signing at the time. Presumably they knew Allardyce would be gone by the summer and that we were pretty much safe at that point. We went and spent pretty big money on a lad who was nearly 27 playing in the Turkish league. While his record in Turkey was good, (he had become a 1 in 2 man) it's difficult to see he had either the profile, the age, the record or the style of play to transfer to the PL. I mean the Turkish league in a ranking site I'm looking at is about the 13th ranked top division league in Europe. It sits somewhere between Russia and Scotland (or about where the championship is). If we went and paid 20+m for a lad who had a 1 in 2 record in the championship, but was 26 I think eye brows would be raised.

I mean Allardyce may have sat here and said, he'd have built a team around him, to make him chances and he'd have fancied them to convert them. Lots of balls into the box etc. That is all fair enough, but I go back to my initial point, that surely we had an idea Allardyce was leaving and wouldn't commit to such long term deals?

While not disagreeing with you, perhaps the reason for his poor conversion rate is down to a lack of match sharpness. He has never really had a run of games, although he has never deserved a run during his time here either.

He is absolute garbage and just because he praises the fans doesn’t make him immune from criticism. Another dreadful mistake by Walsh.

Why Moshiri gave Pie Head and Walsh funds to waste on Tosun and Walcott is beyond me.

...that won’t have helped, but he‘s a pro and needs to get himself into shape to grasp the opportunity when it arises. We saw with Leighton Baines when he came in that he’d prepared for the moment and hit the ground running.

He’s scored a few decent goals for us, but you’d expect that from a striker. From the moment I saw him I thought he wasn’t what we needed and nothing I’ve seen since has made me change my mind. He’s the epitome of Steve Walsh’s time with us.

When he's ready to play again the winter transfer window probably won't be open given the type of injury he has.

4-4-2 can make even bad strikers look good though so he may still have something to offer if he gets on the pitch for us before next summer and the Euros. Perhaps even earn a move rather than just be released at the end of his contract like so many others will be.
