Probably because we’ve put them on that much money that no other club will come close to matching their wages and they’d rather sit in the stands than take a massive pay cut. walsh and bloaty head are two of the worst things to ever happen to our clubIt's annoying seeing other clubs sell their deadwood quite easily yet we always seem stuck with about 10 players that wind their contract down till the end.
He was an Allardyce signing though.
It's disgraceful, every year there's about half a squad out on loan as well that will never play another first team game for us again.Probably because we’ve put them on that much money that no other club will come close to matching their wages and they’d rather sit in the stands than take a massive pay cut. walsh and bloaty head are two of the worst things to ever happen to our club
It’s simply a fact, he wanted him when he was at Palace, as confirmed by the player himself. He was an Allardyce signing as was Walcott. If the DoF had overruled him on his first signing that’d have ended well, given the context of our plight at that point. Walsh can be blamed for plenty but not Tosun.....others have said that but I recall Allardyce not being overly keen on playing him. Regardless, the DoF is responsible for all signings under his tenure, he has the power of veto and this was certainly a Walsh signing.
I think I recall Sam saying Tosun was the best striker in Europe in the £20million price range. Which in itself is quite the statement lolIt’s simply a fact, he wanted him when he was at Palace, as confirmed by the player himself. He was an Allardyce signing as was Walcott. Or he could’ve had the fact Allardyce had never had funds available or managed a club like Everton before in the back of his mind and done his due diligence on the player instead of being a yes man and we could’ve A. Signed someone better and B. Not been stuck with an expensive failure for the next few years. So what if he turned round and said no, it’s part of his job and we’d have been better off because of it.It’s simply a fact, he wanted him when he was at Palace, as confirmed by the player himself. It’s not really hindsight though is it? Most people knew he wouldn’t be up to it from the off. He’s a good finisher but hasn’t got any of the nous or physical aspects to get into those positions in an elite league. That was obvious from the go for a lot of peopleYeah that’s how it works, and you’re judging it with hindsight.
No it is fact. Tosun is on record as saying Allardyce had been in contact with him since his Palace days, google it....it’s not a fact, it’s an assumption but regardless, football strategy is the DoFs responsibility and it was clear that this player was not fit for purpose. The DoF has to be strong, it’s why he’s employed by the club.
The DoF is accountable for all signings good and bad under his tenure.
