And Steve Walsh our DoF signed off on the signing and would’ve negotiated price and wages etc. Surely he should’ve been a barrier for players that as @Eggs said, was so obviously not what we needed?

It's disgraceful, every year there's about half a squad out on loan as well that will never play another first team game for us again.

It’s simply a fact, he wanted him when he was at Palace, as confirmed by the player himself. He was an Allardyce signing as was Walcott. If the DoF had overruled him on his first signing that’d have ended well, given the context of our plight at that point. Walsh can be blamed for plenty but not Tosun.

I think I recall Sam saying Tosun was the best striker in Europe in the £20million price range. Which in itself is quite the statement lol

Signed someone better and B. Not been stuck with an expensive failure for the next few years. So what if he turned round and said no, it’s part of his job and we’d have been better off because of it.

Yeah that’s how it works, and you’re judging it with hindsight.

It’s not really hindsight though is it? Most people knew he wouldn’t be up to it from the off. He’s a good finisher but hasn’t got any of the nous or physical aspects to get into those positions in an elite league. That was obvious from the go for a lot of people

No it is fact. Tosun is on record as saying Allardyce had been in contact with him since his Palace days, google it.

Hanging Walsh for not blocking the move and going head to head with the new manager brought in to try and save our arse, OK mate whatever.
