While I am annoyed at his refusal to leave, I must say that I can’t blame him in some respect.

If someone asked any of us to move to Hull AND possibly have to take less money for the privilege, I think it would be a firm no from us too.

It was a loan so why would he take less money?

It's a chance to be on the same money but play some football between now and the end of the season.

He's an embarrassment, I wouldn't blame him for turning down a permanent move when he has 6 months left on his contract but turning down the chance to play some actually football whilst getting paid the same money is just scumbag behaviour

Whatever his qualities as a player or lack of them, this is one of the worst examples of our disastrous signing policy, as well as a classic case of (all) clubs paying vast salaries on long contracts to people who are not good enough to perform at their jobs. Surely someone can devise a contract clause which gives the employers an escape hatch in extreme case such as this?
In recent years we’ve been lumbered with a number of high earners who’ve contributed nothing and we’ve paid millions in wages in the process. It really is scandalous the money that has been frittered away on players that have contributed nothing.
Bolasie, Martina, Tosun, Delph, Rondon, Walcott, Besic, Garbutt.
I’m sure there’s others to add to this list.

Bit harsh on Besic and Martina I feel . Bolasie and Walcott were both on an extraordinary amount of money , Tosun and Rondon still are and I don't have to repeat what I think about the Sicknote scientist Delph but I will. Absolute [Poor language removed] and I despise him and his Citeh arse kissing face .
Besic was on not the highest wage and he really did want to play . If he was around now , I'd say he might get a game . I loved the psycho made of glass .
Martina too wasn't on a load either if I remember correctly and it's not like he's a workshy prick like Delph , it's just that he was pony .
Garbutt did produce the greatest Everton comedy moment in years. Who ?

If Martina was on a grand a week it was £800 too much!!

I think he’s anxious about getting injured tbh. Another injury right now would pretty much end his career. He wants to pick up the remaining money from his contract here, and then have the benefit of being a free transfer that will probably be his last in professional football.

Well then he's an idiot, I'd say on average your a lot more likely to get injured in training then you are playing matches anyway. Most of our injuries come from training anyway

Besic was given a second contract and never played. Martina was just an awful footballer. Even if both weren’t our highest earners it’s another 4m combined down the drain on wages a year. To put it in perspective our shirt sponser pays us about 10m a year and these two ‘poorer’ paid players who contributed nothing in the latter years accounted to nearly half of that.
