God I'm already counting down the days for another epic S(ite -- Chelsea tie. *hangs self*

Question: Why are we killing ourselves to get in this competetion again? Its not like we never get a chance to play any teams. I'll take the FA hell I'll take the Carling hell I'll MLS trophy over this.

MLS? gracious... standards, you know...

I got this match on Setanta, and found the analysis interesting. One of the analysts noted that in all other cases, you could see the physical superiority of the English clubs over Serie A, except for this matchup.

Disclaimer: I'm not an experienced follower of the game. That said, for the beautiful nature of Arsenal's play (especially when it's working - not like tonight) it seems as though they could use a little more "lead in the a$$" in some areas.

Serie A really is in decline, their teams are far too old now. A far cry from their dominance of the 90's. It does beg the question though, with out teams so dominant in the CL why our national team is still a big steaming pile of poo.

Its becasue the avg. number of english starters on those teams amount to what 2?

CL quarter-final draw

Villarreal v Arsenal
Manchester United v FC Porto
Liverpool v Chelsea
Barcelona v Bayern Munich

I was hoping for Man United, Liverpool encounter. The RS always seem to do well against Chelsea. Let's hope big Gus gets Chelsea up for this game.

I think the semi-final draw will also be made?

Yep, and here it is:

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SEMI-FINAL DRAW:
Manchester United/FC Porto v Villarreal/Arsenal
Barcelona/Bayern Munich v Liverpool/Chelsea

So a Manchester United v. Barcelona final, then?

I'm relatively happy with that, tbh. Chelsea will really test them under Hiddink. He has Anelka and Drogba in the same team and he makes it work. They'll be handful in both legs.

Villareal and Porto being avoided was the big thing in that draw. (y)

I think Man Utd will be happy with that. I can see a Liverpool/Barca semi final.

More than happy, it's got to be the easiest route for them into the final. Normally I would agree regarding Liverpool going past Chelsea, but the change in management hopefully will have a bearing on Chelsea.

Personally I would like to see another Man United v. Chelsea final. But I think it will United v. Barcelona. I just hope the RS don't make it there. Similarly, I hope Bayern don't get through (Hamburg affiliation, means we hate Bayern Munich, like Everton hate Liverpool).

Return leg at Chelsea then?

If thats the case, Chelsea could sneak it. If the return leg is at Anfield, Liverpool are through.

All the RS and the pundits will be all "We can beat anyone" blah blah. Chelski have a new manager, new tactics, unbeaten in games or so, and the 2nd leg at home. It'll be hard for them and it wont be surprising if the RS go out. Gonna go to penalties unless Chelsea just roll over.

As for whoever wins that game playing Barcalona....I dont care what anyone says about La Liga not being as good as our league - Chelsea and Liverpool will struggle big time against them IMO

God ****e vs. Chelsea, 2 teams enter, the whole world loses. Another 210 minutes of 0-0 or 1-1 of some of the worst football you'll ever see. I think I'll skip it.

When the ****e advance on pens, Dr. Robotnik will just sit 9 men back and kill Barca's shambolic defense on the counterattack. The ****e will destroy Barca.
