Championship 2022/23

If we go down it depends who goes with us. Southampton and Leicester will be tough competition in the Championship. And then you have other decent Championship teams that just missed out on promotion.

Personally it’s the weakest Championship for years, for me.

Those playoffs, Middlesbrough and Luton look half decent but they’re just very average sides, which has allowed Sheffield Utd to be 2nd.

Millwall, Preston, Coventry etc if they come up from 5-6th I’d not be shocked to see them finish rock bottom.

Our big problem will be how much of a point deduction we get.

Middlesbrough had a bad start and were just outside the Relegation zone when Carrick arrived.

Think that’s a testament to my point.

I think they’re very, very average. But if form
And flown up. Fair play to Carrick though, because that’s a good achievement.

Millwall, Coventry, Preston, Blackburn, Sunderland… they’re midtable quality, and fair play to them For being where they are but they won’t stand a chance in the Prem.

In previous years, there has always been one side who I think stands great chance if they went up from playoffs. This year, it’s just really poor.

Yes agree, as someone who watches Championship footy every week its a poor league, Burnley been the only stand out team. Whoever goes uo with them will be straight back down.

Draw helped The Baggies, outside chance we can get that 6th spot
This season has been weird even by championship standards lol. I expected you with signing swift and Wallace to absolutely romp the league. However Burnley signed aload of players who nobody has heard off and they looked class whilst you have been proper Everton.

Yep, what did us was the 9 first team injuries and not big enough squad, if we had Corberan from the start of season we would have been easily in top 3

Hi all. Is there no thread on the playoffs?

Some really good stories in the 4 clubs, all different reasons...

Luton, whose ground is like goodison but without the roads between the houses and stadium walls. Seriously look it up. Also they have risen 3 divisions already after a 30 point deduction.

Sunderland, who need little introduction. They have fought tooth an nail to even be anywhere near the top level again

Coventry. Wow. A journey to League 2 and back...
A stadium they thought they owned, then didn't own, then someone bought it, then they owned it.
They were playing all their games away from home for the first 2 or 3 months of this season until their pitch was deemed fit for purpose. Insane. And this is after playing 'home' games in Birmingham for 2 years and Northampton for a year before that.

Middlesbrough. Bottom 3 in winter. Finishing top 6. Coventry were bottom of the league at the same time and now they are meeting each other in the playoffs. Also their stadium had a giant ship docked behind it when I went there, which distracted from the fact Everton lost 1-0. Still better than Sunderland tho, we went there and the car got snowed in, some sarcastic mackems helped us out but then the roads were so bad we had to sleep in a pub in Darlington that night, and I would not recommend that.

Anyway, I digress. The playoffs. Any thread on those?
