Saturday May 7 1983. The birth of my eldest son Tom.
Palace 4 Derby County 0
The Seaweed are relegated from the top flight,............they have never been back.

Saturday October 26 2002,

Palace 5 Seaweed 0 (including AJ hat trick) (y)

All together now;
"I know a fat old policeman, he's always on the beat,
that fat jolly red faced man, he really is a treat
you'll always find him laughing, he's never known to frown,
the reason for his jollity is Brighton going down.....
AH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HA! repeat to fade....

Soon, however, they will have their new ground at Falmer, then who knows? They deserve their ground, their fans have had to put up with absolute **** from unscrupulous previous chairmen, residents of Withdean, and Falmer and, fair play, they always show up and make some noise. Good fans mostly........and they hate us........and the feelings are usually returned. It's just Football.

Funny old game innit

The thing is though, not many teams hate Brighton. They are probably one of the most liked clubs around (mainly due to the hassles we've had over the past ten years) but Palarse.........

everything [Poor language removed] hates Palace. Basically 'cause it's a shithole, full of soapdodgers. Anyway, I aint gonna get involved in this, cause I don't wanna have a go at retards, cause we all know that aint nice. Everyone knows 99.9% of Palarse supporters are obviously mentally challenged. I mean who else would live in London with all those decent teams to support, and choose to support that [Poor language removed]. At least down here we aint got a choice.(y)

(y) Yeh, I walked into that one! At the risk of hi jacking the thread completely, What is the latest on Falmer? I lost track when those **** councillors at (think it was Lewes) got the consent called in on a technicality and delayed it yet again. With regard to you lot being one of the most liked clubs around, and the reasons for it, I wouldn't disagree. A few of what would be considered as a lunatic fringe of Palace fans think so too. (but would probably never say it out loud.)

It was due to open for the 2010/11 season, but it got delayed last week, as they said it will be December 2010 before its complete, and as they dont want to move mid season (you have to do a lot of "test" games to get the safety certificate, like they did at Wembley), they've delayed the return until the start of the 11/12 season.

They've had to resubmited the plans which should be approved in January, purely on the grounds, that since the original plans went in, regulations have changed, so its a cosmetic thing, not a total redraw, so there can be no problems with Lewes council. It's a case of if they built it as the plans stand, it wouldn't be passed to play football for safety reasons, as new rules of stadia have come out in the past year.

Bottom line is though, the work begins on the site in December this year so things are FINALLY starting to happen. The way it sounds is the first few months work will be the same as the old plans, basically clearing the site and building the foundations (which will be unchanged in the new plans), and it's only when the seats and walkways inside the stadium are built, the plans need revising, but by that time permission would have been granted and it'll be all systems go.

So in 2012/13 after one year in the CHampionship and doing the double over Palarse, we will get promoted to the Premershipb) , and toffee supporters wont have to sit about 3 miles away from the pitch as they would do now at the dump that is The Withdean Stadium!

Thats really good news mate. Well overdue. I reckon the first trial game should be an "all stars" match. We'll send Jim Cannon, Super Vince, Henry Houghton, Budgie Burridge etc. and managed by Very Terribles, you lot could put out Horton , Peter Ward, Foster and that diving git Terry Connor (New Years Day 1986, NEVER a penalty) You would have to be managed by the anti christ Mullery and the game could be reffed by Ron Challis, failing that, Kelvin Morton What do you reckon?
A good number of Palace fans would want to know if there is a park nearby, like at the Gallstone, where I understand there were certain parties that would meet, and discuss the events of the game at length, or until the officers of the law arrived. :)

I love this site. My sister was working down in the New Haven yacht club in the early 80s and went to a couple of games at Brighton (remember Peter Ward? silly question).
