2024/25 Charly Alcaraz

It’s the opposite of cowardice to keep picking a player the fans want dropped.

I think ive seen Moyes cowardice against 'top 4' sides while he was at the club the first time.

Using Doucoure & Harrison today was disgraceful. Playing that horror Broja ahead of Chermiti was disgusting.

But to bring off Ndiaye for Alcaraz and shunt him off to the wing???

Stupid.

Picks up very silly yellow cards. At 15m I think I still want him but more needs to be seen from him. Playing on the wing in a team that long balls & only hope is picking up the second ball is not his game.

"Silly" to stop Arsenal taking a quick free kick and kill time?

More like Professional gamesmanship which winners tend to have.

Moyes however mad a terrible team selection, terrible subs and terrible positioning of players...

...Arsenal in 4th gear not wanting to harm their european tie.

I think the idea to slow Arsenal up was right but he did it just a bit too long. He blocked the first two attempts then the ref blew up several times but Charlie ignored it completely, kept blocking then went to kick it away which got him booked. Now the refs adding on time (although in this instance the ref lost all concept of time in the last few mins). Ref was already slowing Arsenal up. All he had to do was back up a little earlier. He's already been booked in another game for kicking the ball away. These non tackle yellows do my head in.

Nothing silly about stopping a quick free kick which could lead to a goal near the end of the game

What is silly was no one bringing down Lewis-skelly and taking one for the team went he went on a rampaging run towards our goal. He should have been stopped well before tarkowski’s intervention

What he did was exactly what people moan our players don’t do usually. Obviously when they do it it becomes idiotic, because EBEPTON.

He scored 1 and assisted 1 against Palace
Laid 2 cracking chances for Beto against Brentford
Laid on a cracking chance for Beto against Wolves
Should have been a match winner against West Ham

When he's central, he gets involved and makes things happen.

Absolutely scandalous that he's not getting picked behind the striker when all of the above shows that when he's in and around it centrally, things happen.
I think a lot of fans are happier when he starts the game, they might like him a lot more if he starts in the number 10 position.

regardless of whether he is good enough to start (i think he is) he is good enough for the squad and we have 13 odd players out of contract most of which won’t be retained

we might be able to sign a better player than him in his position, but it will cost a lot of money

i highly doubt we will sign a better play for 15mil EURO!! its more like 12.5 mil £

So Alcaraz, clearly has a temper. And a proclivity for silly yellow cards. That means he's not a player that'll play a full season, he's getting up to speed with the league and settling in with the squad. We'll need some rotation next year when injuries and bans take effect.

We're going to need a few Moyes miracles this summer, it's just occurred to me about the squad... (to the squad thread...)

Moyes on Carlos Alcaraz dropping to the bench "We'll talk about contracts on another day. But I just thought we had an opportunity to change things about and the best people up at the top end were Doucs and Beto. Doucs proved that was the right choice"
