Really? I’d never noticed! If the club opt for a deeply average and unimaginative choice, why leave it so late in the window?
The recruitment team must be the worst in the premier league by some distance.
Absolutely no strategy or forward planning.
Look on the bright side, that gets you one Cenk Tosunpotentially could have handed over £27m for Che Adams and Neal Maupay
He can't though, and he's way more trampoline shins than DCLLook we’ll have to agree to disagree. For my opinion Maupay is clearly a player who’s confidence is absolutely gone and ultimately he’s of no use to Everton anymore, it’s happened to better strikers too in fairness. However at no point last year in the process of playing him did we give him anything to work with, especially compared to how he was with Brighton.
With Adams because of how he’ll play he’ll be much more involved. He’s 100% not the solution to the goal problem with his own scoring numbers but if he can get 10 g/a while helping the likes of Danjuma, Harrison and Doucoure get into goal scoring positions like Calvert Lewin would then they’ll probably be able to add 5 goals each as well.
We’ve had the same problem since Lukaku, people want one player to replace the 25 goals he’d get whereas realistically we’d have to target 3 or 4 players getting 30 goals between them.
Really? I’d never noticed!
The 3 relegated sides scored more than this team last seasonWe don’t score goals anywhere because we don’t have a focal point to being the attack up the pitch. That’s my point.
It’s why I’ve said we could go for Chris Wood, Weghorst or literally any old big lump of a player and see immediate improvements in the amount of goals we score because they’d have a presence that could push the team forwards, enabling wingers to get more space and get into more goal scoring or creating opportunities.
You’re conflating not having Calvert Lewin the last 2 years with missing out on Calvert Lewin’s individual goals whereas I’m trying to argue that by not having him we miss a player of his style of play on the pitch to help the rest of the team. It doesn’t take an out and out goalscorer to fix this team’s problems.
8 To 10 goals is probably what we can attract as a striker I'd sayWell I was rather hoping for more than a striker that's scores 1 in 5 if your lucky.
How about you?
Yeah thats says everything about this club, with adams coming in the club might see him as a short term option and not block chermiti. With the plan for him to be the 2nd cf next season. Was adams also played as an attacking mod for birmigham when he was youngerpotentially could have handed over £27m for Che Adams and Neal Maupay
He’s scored 25 goals in the premier league, never getting double figures.Look we’ll have to agree to disagree. If you look outside the premier league they may get shocked and find someone who could score more8 To 10 goals is probably what we can attract as a striker I'd say
It’s Everton, it’s why we love themIt's... not ideal
He got 13 G/A in all comps last year, in a much worse side than us? He can do it, there’s the evidence. He can't though, and he's way more trampoline shins than DCL
He'd frustrate the hell out of us and more often than not we'll be saying things like 'well he looked busy'
He didn't exactly help Soton players do that either. What makes you think he can for us?
Doesn't Premier League experience work both ways? We have enough experience of seeing him not doing well to avoid.
