Sorry but more credit to Vidic to getting to the ball first than putting the onus on Hibbert there. If you want to blame anyone in a blue shirt for that goal, blame Yobo for letting him get away from him in the first place.

That was just a well taken goal and not unlike what Lescott did to Bolton two weeks ago.

i can't agree. and i'm not bashing hibbert just for the sake of it. it should have been his ball and he was ball watching instead of attacking the ball. if hibbo would have done his job vidic would have been no where near it. very silly way to lose to an average united side on the day.

Agree to a point with you.. but Yobo was marking Vidic and let him get away. If Yobo had kept that marking Vidic wouldn't have been able to make that header and either Hibbert or Yobo would have headed it away. Hibbert is supposed to be ballwatching at that location, since he isn't a marker he goes for the ball. That Vidic showed up wasn't his fault... but he could have attacked the ball earlier and therefore prevented that goal.

But if you lay blame on Hibbert.. you should lay an equal amount (or even slightly larger) on Yobo for letting his man free.

Hibbert played because he has more speed than any other RB at the club, and with giggs and ronaldo and nani and evra manure have pace on the flanks, baines coped admirably, and hibbert didnt get caught out.

as for the goal, its one of them things, distinct lack of communication was a factor - having lost his man yobo should have been screaming for the header to be made, the players watching vidic peel off yobo and head for the front post should have been screaming for the header to be made. Hibbert doesnt have eyes in the back of his head so physically couldnt see where the danger was.

a slip in concentration and the opposition capitalise, its exactly the same as when anelka scored - lack of communication.

i like hibbert, theres no airs and graces with him, but a lot of guts and the capability to let players know he can kick them dead hard. evra got a good whack yesterday, it was great.

hibbert was on the post.... you never leave the post period. if he had theres no way he would have got to that ball before vidic anyway, and he would have left the front post completely open. if you doubt this then go back to motd 2 weeks ago and watch the highlights there, where a defender moved from his post only to see the ball go in right where he should have been standing (sorry dont remember the game/player)

hibbert was not on the post! the ball clearly went past wessels and perhaps baines who was stuck like glue to the post.

hibbert ended up on his knees on the edge of the 6 yard box!

he was totally at fault. as he did not attack the ball, rather he waited for it to land on his head and he was beaten to it.

ah my bad... on the crappy feed i had it looked like hibbert on the post.... i was somewhat disapointed with the effort of the 2 on the line, might not expect them to stop it, but at least show more reaction

to be fair to the two lads on the line it was a bullet header as hard as you will likely see. with liverpool and chelsea being held 0-0 this really could have been a watershed weekend for the rest of the league that they are not this muskateer all conquring big 4.

That header goal was absolutely undefendable no matter what team you are. Just bad luck we didn't score as well.

you are right. ct jr. no one would have stopped that header. no team in the land. all the more galling he was able to get to the ball!

i dont agree, even hanson said on motd, hibbo was asleep and should been aware of vidic,he could been in vidics way and had he taken half a yard when the ball came in,would of cleared.
i thought we missed hibbo last season when he was injured but he hasnt looked the same player this season,he keeps getting caught out of position, neville would be better there on a permanent basis.

hibbert should have attacked the ball and been up in the air meeting vidic halfway and being an unstoppable wall. The whole point of him taking up that position is to meet the ball is anyone loses their marker.. Not stand there watching it.

How's this for some cheering up:

Derby 1 - 0 Newcastle.

Newcastle. I guess attendance figures don't make you a "massive club" after all.
