Played well overall

+ Kenny, Beni, Davies, Lookman, Kev (2nd half), Jags, two wingers, players playing in correct positions

- Williams' cock-up for goal, Rooney can't ever play CF as he isn't disciplined enough, no focal point, no clinical edge - though their keeper was good

Valid point mate which is why it's good to see Mirallas get a full 90 and Lennon brought back into the fold. I mentioned Lennon on Sunday saying he would be ideal for Kenny as defensively he knows when to track back. No surprise when it was going tits up for Martinez Lennon was first name on the team sheet. Unsworth wasn't stupid in picking him, he knew what he would get and he got himself into a couple of positions where if he wasn't lacking match sharpness he could and should have had 2 tonight.

I think we have enough up top to get by and score, they just need to be played accordingly and get the confidence going and it will come good.

One thing I've always liked about Mirallas mate, he's a bit of a snide.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the transfer window is currently closed. So with three of the back four seemingly playing on fumes now, who was Unsworth supposed to play at the back? He can only work with what he inherited and by all accounts (or at least the vast majority thereof), we showed more spirit in this game than we have all season. Unsworth cannot conjure new players out of thin air, but he sure as hell can do something about motivating the squad, something it seems he's doing far better than his predecessor.
Sounds desperate but how far away is funes mori? I know he's a disaster waiting to happen but comparing him to Williams at the minute I'd take mori. At least hes got a bit of pace so he can recover. Williams puts a challenge in and he's out of that wave of defence as he's so slow.

This was still very much Koemen's team, and will be until we can get players back from injury, get more games under the influence of Unsworth (or whoever comes in) and maybe pick up a good transfer in January.
The idea of playing wingers was Unsworth, as was the "never give up" gritty attitude shown by some in the second half.
In the meantime, it will be interesting to see what he does with the players he is lumbered with.
We need to win games now, no matter how. As much as I like a team that tries, we are in a position now where it doesn't matter how we get the result, just WIN.
I honestly believe the players look a lot worse than what they are. Once we get a couple of decent results and get about of confidence back in the squad I do think the likes of sandro, klaasen, Keane and sigurdsson will show their quality. Unsworths done a good job already, he's come in changed the side to one that will work and get in the other teams face which automatically makes us harder to beat.

Actually felt that we were going to get something out of that game, and was disappointed when we didn't. Of late, if I'm honest, I've been watching the games in a kind of 'autopilot mode' with no real expectation or belief that we were going to do anything. We didn't get the 3-1 win I predicted  but the second half performance has given me more hope for the rest of the Season :)

Was only able to catch the last 15mins but in that time I liked what I saw. It was good to see some pressing and attacking intent. Hope to see more of the same on Sunday.

Like Unsy, I was proud of the team, how they got into the game and had a real go. That is more like what us fans want to see.

On the CB front, got to drop Williams, pair up Keane and jags or start getting Holgate up to speed. That middle has to be tightened. On another front, think Rooney should have been subbed earlier or not even selected, hope Unsy rests??? him for Sunday's game. Disconcerted about baines had a tough game against their right winger, who is good, showed up Baines now lack of pace but no option but to continue to Jan and perhaps Garbutt may be given a wee go. Do we have any other choice for LB??????????

I would says there is only Garbutt as an option for left back currently. Lewis Gibson and Matty Foulds ha e played there for the u23's and Gibson is only 17.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye out to see if Feeney gets a sniff in and around the squad and if Unsworth fancies Holgate as a cb. He played him as a rb quite a few times in the u23's. If we lose to Lyon next week and Atalanta and Apollen become dead rubbers then I think a few of the u23's might get a chance.
