I watched the race on ITV. 5 minutes before the start, some punter placed £5000 on the favourite at 4 to 1.
....ah, that’s nice of you BBN. The Bartlett is always attritional so I was more hopeful than expectant.
First of all, tribute to Sir Erec and others who gave everything for our entertainment.
Boooooooooom. Really fancied Al Boum Photo, had it 33-1 ante-post and in a few doubles@14-1 but nothing with it. Still, very happy with 33-1. Also had Early Doors @ 17.5-1 any race. Won on the day, won 3 days out of 4.
Kemboy in my thoughts for next year.

......won a nice few bob, not as much as last Festival because I didn’t quite get a big priced double but ante-post is definitely the way to go. It really helps being retired because it’s a bit of fun from Christmas onwards.
Concentration on Aintree now. The markets don’t come up as early but i’m already on a few that I fancy for the National at fancy prices. Rathvinden 40-1 and 33-1, Rock the Kasbah 33-1 and Traffic Fluide @ 60-1.
....I always say, backing short-priced favourites is a way to the poor house but if you’re putting £10k on any horse in any race you are either silly rich or just silly.

JP had six figures on istabraq, let alone some punter in the ring having 10k on one of his.
I'm sure JP had loads on.
Same profile of horse.
Istabraq was decent on the flat for Gosden and went to Aiden.
This horse was twice as good on the flat as istabraq and went from Aiden to his son, and was still owned by JP.
It was a full on plot to bag a touch at Cheltenham.
I nearly backed it to win next year's champion hurdle before racing today, as it could easily have gagged in.
Itv then done a profile video of my old favourite, Danoli and waxed lyrical.
Well, they didn't mention him falling at Aintree and staying in Liverpool Vets for ages did they ?

The telly presenters can't have it both ways. Just be honest about the game, especially with Aintree coming up next.
....I backed Sir Erec @ 25-1. It’s was a top drawer flat horse who had the rare ability to jump so I was on before it jumped a fence. The fact it was an ‘entire’ suggests they were targeting him for a campaign on the flat and almost certainly the Ascot Gold Cup.
Saying that, when a horse goes that short for a Triumph Hurdle it’s a risk. I was on 25s, I certainly wouldn’t touch him in single figures. Superstar in the making, and so sad. McManus wouldn’t have been playing that at evens, he’d have been well on @ 25s.
