Bob Olinger has been very kind to you this festival!!

....he has, it was good getting him in my book @ 33-1. The Irish Point-to-Point form is such a good indicator for these novice hurdlers & Bob O looked top drawer at that level. You know when a top owner & top trainer acquire them they’re really good prospects.

I have him already @ 33-1 to win any race next year. You’re right, though, he’s now a big favourite of mine.

Terrific round of jumping by Minella Indo by the way.

I can remember buying him an old beer bottle with posters ale on it he was made up ......I am not sure whether that brewery had part ownership of that horse .....?
I backed it Joey and I’m sure they said the two owners had a brewery and a flooring business, hence the name.

Floueur in the last 50/1. His horses have been running ok without troubling the winners.

No luck this year, lost what I set aside, been a fantastic weeks racing mind you, even listening on the radio has been great fun.

Stewards Enquiry into the British trained runners.

Henderson, Nichols and Skelton etc have been poor, very poor.

The likes of Twiston-Davies and McCain... pretty much non existent.

What the hells happened to British NH racing?

...lots of reasons I imagine;

Quality rather than quantity. Less racing in Ireland than here, the good horses run regularly against each other.
Much better prize money.
The big owners (JP McManus, Richie Rich, Gigginstown, Cheveley Park) base themselves in Ireland.
The Irish Point-to-Point produces outstanding prospects which are bought by Irish owners (they’re also at the front of the queue for the best French breds).
There’s more of a horse culture in Ireland. Even on housing estates, I’ve seen horses outside blocks of flats (not sure if that’s so much the case, but I have witnessed it when I’ve been over there).

I suppose the divide is less obvious on the flat, where there’s lots of investment into breeding.
