Chrismpw's letters from a festival

I actually have a video of me about 10 mins after the gin bong but can’t upload. Before anyone called me a festival Zat.
About 20 years ago I had a similar incident at the Brecon Jazz festival involving the newly invented, pre-watered down Caffreys a bottle of vodka that was so big it stuck out either end if a hold all, red wine and whisky. It was a very hot sunny day. I have never been so ill since that day.

Went to a sea-shanty session. I likes a good sing along and a sea shanty.

In an hour of being ordered to sing and organised like school kids, I realised we covered ONE sea shanty and THREE negro spirituals.

That's not as advertised ffs. Who do I write to to complain?

Went to a couple of music festivals in my youth...but never really enjoyed them...

For me I didnt like all the people off their heads and also the mud or just the thought of getting dirty...

I once drank so much and ended up lying in the middle of a road...the only way to move me was when someone said i would get my clothes dirty lying there so i stood up...

Also not much of a music fan unless a bit of 80s or something random on the laptop to get me in the mood to work or go out.

What attracts you to festivals?

I like the atmosphere. Festival crowds are about the only crowds I can tolerate really. Having said this, most of the ones I go to are folk festivals and they attract a far more relaxed / sensible crowd than most.

Thought I ought to support the event a bit more in terms of swigging their beer, so girded my loins and returned to the beer tent.

They want a further £1 to buy a plastic glass because, well, plastic. I walked away again.

Previously they used biodegradable plastic 'glasses' - which us wasteful but none polluting. Of course, since then the government have fabricated a 'waste economy' meaning we now get charged 20p to cover the 5p tax on plastic bags,* traders have cottoned on.

A pound for a plastic cup that will not decay. Better for the environment?

*incidentally I read a university professor suggesting that a 'bag for life' has to be used 400 times before it has less of an impact on the environment than an old style free plastic bag.

And why do Morrison now charge 20p for a PAPER bag? Oh - because the public have accepted bring ripped off ffs.

Being in the crowd for my favourite DJ's. Very emotional and energy-fuelled atmosphere.

It's amazing how different people can be. I can't bear DJs or understand how they get credit for playing other people's music, don't like crowds and lack energy!

Each to their own.

I can say it definitely depends on the artist you see. Most of them I agree are naff but some put on a real show.

My favourite are Above & Beyond and their shows are always amazing.

Have just discovered that the repetitive thumping monstrous carbuncle of noise that's trampling all over the sound of every live venue, is the dj and his pre-recorded noise. Absolute travesty - and there can't be might than a dozen people (all with ears bleeding) in his tent.
