Smoked for 20 years from age 14-34. I was on 2 packs a day by the end, 3 packs if I was drinking. I was about to get married and a mate died. It made me think about my choices so I just gave up. It wasn't easy, I'd failed loads of times before, but I did it cold turkey. 12 years now and it's the best thing I ever did. I cut down on my drinking after that as drinking without smoking was never as good. I haven't drank in 4 years now.

Literally everything in my life is better without smoking. My health is better, my family aren't subjected to my poison, travelling is much more fun, work is much less stressful... I could go on.

I know very few smokers these days. Most have given up.

Every smoker I know now vapes.

The only people I know who smoke now, are the old boys in the pub.

Vaping is illegal here though you do see a few. Cigarettes are also cheap but it's just not that common. It could also be demographics I suppose. I don't frequent bars anymore or I'd see more smokers. As an expat I live in a bit of bubble too. My colleagues are educated young professionals and I live in an area where people tend to be a little better off. Maybe if I saw a fuller mix of the general public I'd see more people smoking too.

Yeah, and I wish they would stop and go back to cigs. I hate the smell of those vapes, plus who knows what the effects are for passive smoking of that chemical concoction.

Knock your collective selves out then, no skin off my nose.
But tiny particulate matter in the lungs is tiny particulate matter in the lungs - no matter what the delivery system is...just sayin like.

Edit; addicts not gonna listen - but you've been told - they will, eventually, be definitively proved to be bad for you.

...so for that reason - I'm out.
I don't think anyone argues that vaping isn't bad for you. It's just that all available evidence suggests it's numerous degrees less bad than smoking tobacco.

All you are really doing is swapping 1 set of chemicals for another. Also you can get tobacco like American Spirit which has less chemicals than most of the normal stuff but it's very expensive and I think Sainsbury's are the only 'shop' that sell it, mostly you would have to go to a proper tobacconists for it.

Any available evidence indicates that even smoking organic tobacco is far, far more deleterious to your health than vaping. There's no combustion involved in vaping and no tar.

"Swapping one set of chemicals for another" is a massive oversimplification. Which chemicals? What is their effect on the human body?

Vaping is no doubt bad for you, I speak from experience, but it's really not in the same league as smoking.

Honestly feels like a lot of non-smokers just really want vaping to cause cancer. Don't mean you, particularly, btw.

I am a smoker, I know all about the dangers and damage it does.

Never ever smoked cigs but smoked weed from aged 16-17 until about 30.

Had my last ever joint sat on a balcony when I lived in Spain in 1999 and it was rank, so never touched one since.

I smoke. Wish that I could give them up. I have tried numerous times but can’t kick the disgusting habit.

Never smoked my grandad gave me an untipped woodbine when I was 15 years old he made me smoke one - I threw up being sick - he had been smoking them since he was 11 years old. That was it only one in my family not to ever smoke. Everyone packed in as I got older apart from my grandad - cancer sticks - lost all but one of that family .
