If you want a History of Strange Decisions, have a look at what wiki has to say about Clive Thomas in the "Controversy"section.

While we're on the subject, I've thought before that letting a private company (POGMOL - http://www.premierleague.com/content/premierleague/en-gb/referees/about-pgmol.html ) run the game on the pitch was open to abuse. They are literally unanswerable to the game as a self governing body. A subcontracted out organisation. The fact they have commercial backers too is a source of potential problems.

It's surprising how such a crucial body of people go unquestioned.

Shouldn't the other officials be sanctioned as they let him leave without them? Just saying like, trying to be even handed and all that. Penalty!

Very good point that. Never knew they had commercial backers as well ffs.

An example of potential conflict of interest is the sponsorship the ref's private company had with Air Asia. That's part of a larger group owned by Tony Fernandes.

The issue of their non-accountability is the clincher though. A club makes a complaint and only they determine whether it's justified or not. They're like the coppers.

Good point this. It brings the integrity of the game into question

Particularly of its not not for profit

On SSN saying he travelled home alone after the palace game which goes against the rules of officials travelling together to protect the integrity of the game.

Also apparently made a private phone call to warnock in which again the official rule Is other officials have to be in attendance of any phone calls made to managers etc.

Deffo a corrupt character.

After the clattenburg derby

To see him give THREE penalties to Liverpool at Old Trafford confirmed it all to me.

One or two penalties is not unusual but three is very unusual and makes you look to these Asian betting syndicates

Equally his earlier refusal to award what was a blatant penalty for what constituted an assault was not forgotten.
