All things are relative though aren't they. We're not at the stage where we're going to win the CL so that kind of experience isn't all that important. What is important is the experience of winning in general, and the mentality and preperation it takes to achieve. In those terms Phil Neville has bags of experience, and that's why he's the captain I think.

Actually i think that is exactly the kind of experinec we need now to take us onto the mext level. If we want to challenge the top places we need people who have been there, played and won to help lead out talented players who have only really played a level below. Phil Nev is a good start but we still need more and better experience imo. But i agree on that he is captain for that reason and agree with that and his signing. Now is the time to start trying to push on and improve further.

Same reason Neville did. The reason Sidwell might? The reason Beckham is in LA. We may not be able to get a Ronaldo or *cough*Rooney*cough*, but imagine if we could pick up a Scholes or Giggs? Someone who is just on the downside, but can still be a good player for us, and who has been there and done it. Phil Neville only better.

To be fair, Sidwell has no CL or top 4 experience. He saw $$$ and followed. Has he started for Chelsea since moving? Beckham moved for the same reason, $$$.

However, if we managed to pick up Scholes, I would be pretty darn happy with that, Giggs, not so much. I don't think he would do well anywhere else other than United.

I think the right direction for us is to continue harvesting the youth and use them to supplement the core team we have right now. We will be up there, give us a few more years, but we will make it.

I would prefer Sidwell over Scholes. Younger, more dynamic, and more likely to be here in 5 years time.

Really don't want to go down the road of signing ex-stars. I doubt Moyes would even do it. Neville on the other hand was at his peak and is still turning out for his country.

The reason Neville looked so much more accomplished for United - particularly in terms of distribution - relates to the payers surrounding him. The movement and skill level of that United team was, TBH, several notches above our current level, vastly improved though we are. Most players look better when surrounded by extreme quality. Heck, the best game I ever played was also the highest level game I ever played - I had so many options when I got the ball and so much constructive talking from team-mates, I don't think I coughed the ball up once playing central midfield.
