We do know most people who test positive have a mild illness most reports say you will not catch it again once you have had it but there not sure how long that immunity last for. Not seen much on people who have fully recovered cos the media seemed to be obsessed with the daily death figure.
The lockdown definately happened. Saw that the Tory chancellor is going to end the furloughed scheme in June. What happens then when those 5.2 million dont get paid after. Should they continue in lockdown with no money. If the money ran out to pay pensions universal credit the nhs etc shoutsthe lockdown continue. If a 2nd wave came which was worse what happens then.
The government will be planning lockdown measures for at least end of july. So furlough will be extended otherwise they risk major social unrest and riots. The virus will affect anyone infected differently, it is aggressive and deadly. If people cant understand that then they can go out and catch it. Good luck in a completely overrun nhs, being paid then will do no one any good.

Agree about the lockdown. I hope I don't catch it and if I do only the mild symptoms. Think everyone understands about the disease and I wouldn't.wish it on anyone. It is aggressive and deadly to mostly over 70s with underlying problems. The stats are there for everyone to see. People who are obese are also.affected badly. But the vast majority aren't. That's a fact.

Our Govt has only itself to blame for the situation you describe. We should have locked down at least 2 weeks earlier, closed our borders to all but returning nationals and imposed mandatory 2 week self isolation period for returning nationals. Sourced additional ventilators and PPE. Had a plan to deal with care homes and implemented a track and trace policy.

We did none of those things or if we did it was half-arsed. That's why there's so many dead, that's why we cannot come out of lockdown just yet. The Govt can no longer afford to pay the wages of all the furloughed people so they now have a massive dilemma. They need to get people back into work but in reality it's too soon to do that.

This has been a massive tory cake and arse party from the beginning. Personally I don't care if they say lockdown is over - my kids are not going back to school and I'll continue our own lockdown until the situation is more under control.

I lost an old friend to this crappy virus last week. Raed El Hames 51. Top bloke - didn't need to die, shouldn't have died.

Agree with all of this. But the last bit kids should be going to school but you as a parent does as you feel fit

Yeah - you're right. They're my kids, my responsibility and I'll keep them isolated until I think its a safe environment for them to return to school
Yeah I'd lock them away. 11.5 million kids under 16 in the UK. About 15 kids with underlying problems under 16 have died in the UK with this virus. Much much more die of other things,. Cancer, Road traffic accidents etc All a tragedy but let's look them all away just in case

I lost 2 mates over the last 3 weeks. One with a heart attack the other with cancer. Top lads both blues. They shouldn't have died

Who gives one, what pleasure would they be able to gain from “winning the league against us” in a training session at St James’ Park with no one there?

I wouldn't have a panic attack, but it would irk me a little bit like.

There’s been multiple players testing positive in Germany and they’re miles ahead of us. That feels like a PR stunt from them to be honest ‘look we were the only nation to get football back’. If it’s based on safety of players and fans then no football happens. If it’s based on financial self interest then it will start back up under any circumstance. 100s will be dying, players won’t want to play, yet we’ll see football matches happen supported by front line medical staff with hundreds of people crowded outside the stadium whilst a pandemic rages on. That is what the government and football authorities are condoning though. Money before health when it comes to football.
I had a brilliant idea - why not play the remaining games on pitches next to Hospitals or NHS facilities. That way anyone can be tested and any transmission can be dealt with immediately. Great publicity for NHS and they could even charge admission to bolster funds to pay for the extra patient needs caused by football's return. I'm sure those plucky lads and lasses could do with some interaction with handsome Andre and crew! We could insist that at least 2 of the 5 subs are non-professional footballers, drawn from the ranks of the NHS itself.

You keep pushing the over 70's with underlying problems , are you purposely overlooking the deaths of front line Doctors & Nurses (over 100) plus care workers & bus drivers etc who pass very stringent medicals and are under 70 years old.

So lets not let the majority carry on as normal and help these frontline service's .

This disease can take anyone.

I think you will find the majority (once again that word) ofthose nhs workers had underlying problems and if you look at the pictures obese. When I was a kid we used the word fat but now we use obese

Its more a case of children becoming carriers and passing on the virus. I think you misunderstood the point of my post. I'm not unduly concerned about children picking up the virus.

You're getting like a stuck record now mate.
People who are dying anyway
Most people who have died in care homes would have died anyway.
The vast majority are over 60 with underlying problems so like I said most would have died anyway
The vast majority of people who.have died have had underlying conditions and over 70.
those figures will include people who had 2 or 3 underlying conditions.
9 out of 10 had underlying conditions
because they were very ill with underlying issues.
. Most of the 30000 who hav died so far have been over 70 with 2 or 3 underlying conditions.
Nearly all are from the vulnerable group.
the vast majority of people who have died have been over 70 and lots of underlying conditions.
Over 95% of the people died with underlying conditions.
Most 95% people who have died have had underlying conditions with the vast majority over 70.
with this one 95% of the people who have died had underlying problems with a majority being over 70

The point of my argument was the Tory's could have done this better. You have already alluded to this. My thinking was no lockdown. Protect the 1.5 to 1.8 identified vulnerable people until a vaccine was found. That didn't mean lock them away. They just take safe precautions. The other 50 odd million work as normal but take precautions also. Loads of business gob to the wall. A mountain of debt built up like never before. Now the lockdown is being lifted and I think quite a few people are voting with their feet judging by the traffic on the road people should be grown up about it. Work as normal just take precautions. Think this app will help with tjis
