Clubs to given CL spot on “historic performance”

As if football wasn’t already dead. I honestly think if the blues go down this year I’ll be done with football, all about keeping the money clubs in their positions now and killing any competition.

This was part of the plan laid out by the "super league" clubs ages ago. They are all paranoid about dropping out of the champions league, but it favours Uefa as well, they dont really want one of their most watched teams not in the champions league

Solid club, Palace.
I remember tagging you into a post pre-season saying that I was impressed with your business/new ethos with younger players but I'll admit I never saw it going as well as it has.

Fair play to your club mate, Steve Parish is doing wonders down there.
I’m pretty sure no one saw this including Palace fans. Very impressed with the way Vieira is conducting himself and what he is producing with the squad. Parish is a good guy, not beyond criticism but a Palace fan, good businessman and throughout our longest stay in the top flight by miles (ten seasons next season, previous best; four) he has ensured we have retained our underdog status/mentality while progressing on and off the pitch. Some trick to pull off.

Yep palace doing really well good luck against the chavs next week , back to this super league garbage like i have said as a United fan its a total rancid garbage its down to money most true United fans despise the idea of of it all , its really sad all of it just like the rest of society today all about control , money , resources and misinformation
Fair play mate. United have always had a core of genuine support (K Stand) and proper away support. It’s diluted by world wide tourists and hangers on but that doesn’t take away from the core game going support.

I just dont get how UEFA are able to pass this off with zero criticism from the media/clubs/ex players etc.

Hypocrite scum after the carry on over the ESL plans.
We only hear about what anyone says if the media gives them a platform. The media directly benefits from this change, so they are silent. They pay UEFA for the rights, and sell advertising on the broadcasts. The more eyeballs those broadcasts attract, the more money the media makes.

So long as there's the fig leaf of "everyone has an opportunity", the media will go right along with almost any greedy hypocrisy because the media also profits. The media does not care that this opportunity is not equal. In fact, they prefer things the way they are, because the big clubs have big fan bases and the same clubs turning up in the final rounds year after year means more people watching. If Manchester City goes on a run, they also pick up a bunch of United fans hate watching.

this okay can go one ion two ways, the same sides in every year will either drive every new fan to these teams so fans of other teams will be outliers, or it will drive people away from football altogether as it is boring. Sadly, in this modern era, I suspect the first. We have seen the best times football can offer, now it is just a show.

I would suggest that the former is happening abroad. I can't speak to what is happening in England, but I suspect that the latter is more likely to occur there.

Various sports and leagues have killed the golden goose for the eggs in this manner (chasing new fans and losing the core fanbase in the process). The best parallel on this side of the pond is NASCAR, but there are plenty of other examples.

Not sure why anyone is surprised, this was always going to happen. It's no more ridiculous than qualifying for the champions league by finishing 4th, while some actual league champions are pushed into the Europa cup

They’ll be doing away with relegation for the top 6 soon, we will end up with some thing like the nfl.
It might be too far gone now where the best solution is to just have an NFL. Let the big clubs leave and create a league where they're essentially franchises. But a clean break, no promotion/relegation from domestic leagues or coming back to play cups.

And then with what is left you've got the ability to keep the system how it was. Yes the best players are going to be elsewhere but I think for a lot of supporters that only matters so much. You can have a real, competitive league, a return to the FA Cup how it should be and maybe even a reset of European competition that isn't so based on money above all else.

I'm just not sure there is any other way back anymore. The ship might have sailed.

Agreed.
They want the super Nintendo league so badly, let them have it.
But you're no longer registered for your respective domestic league/cups etc.
