Been an espresso/macchiato drinker for years, 5 years ago I finally took the plunge on an obscenely priced setup - but it is heaven

I start my day with a nice cuppa but I do like a proper coffee, I’m posh so not to keen on instant, I leave that for peasants.
Lavazza the Italian coffee is nice and reasonably priced in Costco.

Always wondered about this, fresh coffee often says the bag must be used within 2 weeks of opening. Does it really matter? Tends to take us a while longer to get through a bag.

The flavour will go. The flavour goes even more when the beans are ground if you don't use for the next few days after.

The most important 'freshness' is the time between when the beans are roasted and used. You won't really get that from supermarket or coffee chain coffee but it is noticeable from a good independent specialist place.

You don't even pay that much more, if at all, for a cup.

As for beans, you can get some fresh ones for £6.50ish for 250g.

But as below, it depends how much you're bothered tbh. You don't have to be to enjoy it.

Once coffee is ground it goes stale really quickly (days or even hours). If you don't notice, or don't care then not to worry.

I get through 1.5kg of beans a month on average. I usually grind 50g in the morning as part of my waking up ritual, enough for a couple of cups.

I got a Bialetti coffee pot for Christmas. Makes very nice coffee. Well worth the effort. I just need to not drink a whole 6 espresso pot on my own..
Fully worth it. I've got a 3 shot one for that reason however...

Been trying different coffees over the past few months with my Moka Pot. Exhale coffee is one of the best.

Be worth every penny. My Rocket R58 and Mazzer grinder have paid for themselves twice over already based on a double shot based drink a day for me and my wife which we don’t buy at Costa et al.

Agreed. I figured we spent nearly 1k every year in capsules and comparatively I import some Italian roast for less than 150 annually- in 5 years nearly paid the machine off

My colleague has the Rocket and he was the reason I finally took the plunge to invest a professional machine/setup
