Coffee

Following on from the “products you won’t compromise on” thread where a few people said coffee.

I’ve recently switched from Dolce Gusto pods to filter coffee. I know the pods are recyclable but I still feel I’m being slightly more environmentally friendly switching. However, I do miss my Ristretto pods which were delightful.

Any of our forum gourmet’s recommendations for nice filter coffee? I’m a month in and have tried a couple from Lidl and just bought one from Sainsbury’s, still a bit underwhelmed.
My local café uses the beans (also available ground) from this company: https://monsoonestates.co.uk/collections/coffee

My other half now buys beans from them direct - really good stuff. You can select the grind style, I.e. to suit what you are using it for (filter, cafetiere etc).

Coffee-ponce-hipster, me.

coffee beans lose a lot of flavour 3 months after roasting, and its even quicker once they are ground - so supermarket isn't always great apart from if you like really dark roasts. filter is better with lighter roasts

It all depends how much you want to spend, but something like https://www.pactcoffee.com/ would be a start. Or a good local coffee shop
Got a pact house blend whole bean sub at present, however I have been very tempted to change it for this from Caravan;

Despite loving coffee and the ritual of brewing it (Chemex and V60 being weapons of choice) I saw a coffee alternative called MUD/WTR the other day, which also contains Lions Mane mushroom. So falling squarely into the fool and his money are easily parted category I promptly bought their starter kit which arrived this morning…..
Can certainly tell where they got the name from….

Consistently I find Lidl Italian blend coffee the best. Smooth, chocolatey, rounded. I've had it in cafetiere, aeropress snd now as beans in my coffee maker. I've had lots of other stuff, including out in coffee bars, but this is always my preference.

I've had a few from Caravan and they've all been good so def give it a go

i have a sub here:

£17.50 (inc delivery) for 2 bags - you normal save at least a fiver with the coffees you get. the price of coffee has gone up loads so it's worth getting subs, as you know
