Personally I think some play too much - those in Euro competitions and/or playing at a WC/Euros. Athletes these days are all finely tuned glass cannons and they're getting run ragged with some not really having a pre-season anymore because they feel they need PT's on holiday to stay in shape.

It also shows on the pitch as personally thought the Euros were crap and most teams looked knackered even in group stages.

New CL format has more games, Conference League wtf is that? Extra pointless internationals every few weeks and 800 team World Cup's.

I love footie but it's too much.

Thing is uefa and fifa now want a bigger piece of the pie, so we are getting more games in that over blown Europe cup league thing. And now they want the Euros every 2 years and world cup also every 2 years...its all about the money...show me the moneyyyyyyy

The players can and should act if they really feel they are being pushed beyond physical limits. Refuse to play, insert a maximum into contracts, strike, whatever.

But when I see managers and clubs talk about it, I start to wonder if its being pushed for their own gain. Like the 5 subs rule which benefits those with quality benches (Man City) more than anyone else. Clubs in europe (like Man City) already skip one round of the league cup compared to the rest of the PL, are they wanting to skip more? Maybe just turn up in the QF and get to spend more time back in the moneyball UEFA matches?

Unionise.

There's money to be had.

FIFA and Uefa are in a Cold War of sorts - FIFA resent Uefa because of the CL and the revenue it creates and the power it gives Uefa.

The changed Club World Cup format is FIFAs answer. FIFA also had its finger prints all over the ESL and will again if it means torpedoing Uefa.

There is a huge political struggle going on between the two - for the money and power in the European Club game, the players and clubs to an extent are just pawns.

Both organisations are corrupt to the core also, like most involved in the games administration, it’s not about football anymore.

They have a point and football has gone far beyond a saturation point. That being said the excess is what funds their deals, would they take a pay cut to avoid playing in pointless world club comps or Saudi tours? Probably not, what they will campaign for is the destruction of the FA cup, league cup and fewer teams in the prem, reducing lower league revenue while keeping their salaries high and then playing less footy.

Every big team at the euros was crap this year with maybe Spain as the exception. That tells you all you need to know. It's easy to point to the money but they are 100% playing too many games and it's making the sport worse to watch

Go on, finish your point

Genuinely don't have a clue if you're wanting to tell the players to sack it up because the wedge is good or if you think it's past the point of justification now. I'm the latter, and this excessive advertising culture that's infected every facet of our lives needs regulation because it's causing all this
May I please hate, despise and cast every kind of curse there is against both?

Feck the lot, really really hard?
