I think with the size of squads now, players cant really complain about the number of games, I do think players have more of a fair shout on playing 9 minutes of stoppage time at the end of games, because the players in the Premier league play high intensity and adding more and more minutes on to the 90 is not a great plan.

But when you hear about former players they always say that they would rather be playing games than training and when you are playing more games the training sessions are less intensive and there are less of them.

While I do disagree with the additional games through the champions league and the stupid new club World Cup, I just struggle to sympathise with footballers and their obscene salaries.

There’s plenty of people that will be working extremely demanding jobs and will only be being paid an eighth of their weekly salary across an entire year.

The players need to bore off moaning and get on with it, the overpaid entitled gobshites.

Way too much money going into their bank accounts means that they are so out of touch with everyday people who actually have to work for a living. Stfu and get on with it.

Most of the top half of the premier league dragged their squads all over the world for lucrative pre-season friendlies, more or less as soon as the euros had finished, the clubs and PL are as bad. Players don’t moan much then.

if the players are tired, they or the medical teams should tell the managers they cannot play and that’s that - they don’t play.

The sports science is unreal now - the data should be handed over to an independent body for assessment, and if managers are picking players and players are playing when they shouldn’t, then clubs and individuals should be fined.

Academy kids might actually play games in the PL and these tired, bullwhipped, knackered players can get the rest their poor frail bodies need.

The amount of money in football and amount of people profiting off it, who do you want to see get the money?
Personally I'd like to see the guys who have put the effort in from a young age, sacrificed things as a child and continues to work hard to receive what, is probably a tiny percentage of what is actually ran through the game.

In terms of to many matches.......i agree!
Its not really the domestic game that is causing this though, its clubs who tend to book in friendlies across the world in that small gap between pre season and a tournament and FIFA/Uefa adding more games to the European/International calendar. you can just see now how players rack up caps compared to what players back in the day used to get.

If the wages was linked to games completed they would want to play in the first team the u21 and the women's team, including all pre season games , they are scared youngsters will take there place, I have zero sympathy.

They are paid to play club football. Maybe if they think they are playing too much, they should consider jacking in playing for their nations? Find it hard to take them seriously when they ALL seem to want CL footy, and an overwhelming majority of them choose to play internationally for free. If they want less games, it's not that hard to achieve, but many of them want the extra money from CL, and no doubt international footy has some perks for them (probably sponsor related),

It's all a ploy anyway, I reckon, for the so[called big boys to continue in their monopoly. They've got the 5 subs, watch them get registration raised to 35 man squads or such at some point now...

Would certainly be nice if say 20& of turnover had to be spent on facilities and/or the local community of clubs. Might stop things like clubs raking in hundreds of millions of pounds each year and using some of it for some blue gravel.

Not sure why people think it's automatically a given that nearly all money should be channeled to either players, agents, coaches or owners.
