Computer games.

Got the new COD (£57 for the cross-gen bundle...), and I must say it's a very smooth experience on my new Xbox. It's a ridiculous size, of course, with so many gigs reserved for ray-tracing etc., but I think I'll get many hours out of it. It's been one confusing release, though, with the Xbox One and Series X versions being sold separately, but both consoles' names listed on both covers, and the XB1 version still being advertised as playable on the Series X, but no upgrade possible if you just buy the XB1 version, and so on. I think PS4 versions will be upgradeable to PS5 for £10 or so??? Anyway, I'm sure it will all cause great confusion for anyone looking to buy it as a Christmas present.

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a bloody gorgeous looking game!

PC optimization is poo at the moment though, the frame rate is unpredictable at best and there's a bit of screen tear on busy scenes.
Hoping they patch that soon.

Valhalla is boss but they should’ve dropped all the assassins creed bits from it made it a bona fide slightly more brutal Viking game.

I just think the modern day weird backstory thing is a bit played out and to try and project some code on Vikings raiding English monasteries is laughable

I have not bought a console since the original PS and the GameCube. I only use Laptops now and even next Gen consoles cannot match a good gaming laptop, the price of the games is absurd also for consoles

It's Ubisoft's most successful franchise ever so no way were they going to drop the AC bits. And if they did people would just complain that it was just Assassin's Creed without the modern day bits.

Obviously a bit early for this discussion but I do wonder where they will go next given they can't really do Samurai now after Ghost of Tsushima.

I had 2 Xbox's on preorder, one for me and one for a friend. Friend backed out Sunday and I was already charged so I thought, why not put it on Craiglist here in my area. Got $800 for it in about 90minutes. So $300 for about 20mins of quasi-"work" for it.

I get back and have about 10 more replies to the add. Favorite one was someone saying they will pay $500 for it because that is retail price but not a penny more. Well, a) lol just STFU but b) I ALSO paid tax on that. So I'm going to take a loss for the privilege of selling a brand new system you cannot get ANYWHERE around here to you?
"Friend"

You just sold it for profit. Bit of a tit move to be honest.

I know, but it’s such a great time period to set a game in and there are so few good Viking type games out there I just feel the assassin stuff slightly stifles it and a stand-alone game would take it from “good” to a “classic”.

I do get however, how game companies (particularly Ubisoft) want to just churn game after game out and I’m not too annoyed because unlike most of their games this one actually feels finished

Biggest con in gaming right now.

This free upgrade to the next gen sounds boss doesn't it , buy it now and get your next gen version to go with it.

Except there is no old gen version anymore. It's one copy of the Game, so every new game now will be sold for the top whack price for that reason. Every game 50 quid plus now , no chance of an old gen cheaper one this time.

Just paid 50 for Valhalla, made my eyes water.

Haven't new games been 50 notes for ages now anyway?
