MW2, MW3, WAW, Black Ops.
All map packs for the same game name revolving around 2 devs.
What I can't quite put my finger on, is how Activision has figured out a way to charge $60 for map packs and sell them in the millions!
Actually more than that here. They bumped the RRP by £5 because they can.
Also map packs for your new map packs went up ages ago from 800msp to 1200msp on the xbox, think that's about £7 going up to £11ish.
And yet they sell more than anything this generation. And genuinely original games often flop and fail, or don't get off the ground, as people try to ape what works.
*sigh
Yep. Sad isn't it. I miss games that were good to play, rather than good to sell.
I've really come to appreciate just how much of a Godsend Valve are.
Sure, you get indie games on XBLA and such, but they get strangled by MS' ridiculous fees and legislation -- $40K it costs the indie devs to release a patch! You really think MS would cover the cost of a broken game on their own platform.
I cleaned up in the Steam summer sale but Valve maintain, despite criticism from EA (no surprise) that it's too cheap, that sales afterwards remain the same or often go up, making it a win win situation.
If I hadn't just moved half-way around the planet, I would have cleaned up in that sale too. Ahh well, there is always Christmas time.......
Ah yes, gaming's all a bit backwards in the Antipodes.
Although I think the Aussies finally stopped outlawing all those 18 rated games? Hopefully New Zealand's as up to date.
Fook that mate. I am not paying NZ prices. Say hello to USA purchases on Steam courtesy of Mr. Virtual Private Network (specifically, HMA. Really a top quality VPN that)
