Totally the same. It's a past time that has become professional. Kicking the ball into a net, virtual or in reality, is the same to me.
Yeah, but it's not people playing through the stories. It's the multiplayer stuff that people watch/play professionally. It's Dota/LoL/CS/Starcraft.Not the same at all for me.
A computer game is a computer game. A thing that people have created usually with a set story.
A football match its a created game where there are untold random events that can happen and why we all watch it.
I don't think I'll ever get it though, but if there's demand for that type of thing for enough.

Pretty much what Raleigh said. People watched telly programs, reality TV etc, this is no different now, it's an entertainment business. Is it a sport? Well, another argument. Chess and Poker are borderline, but look at the millions involved in World Series Poker, and it's on ESPN.
Times they are a changin'
CSGO was on ESPN last few times. Just an overview type of thing and a few interviews, but still - it was on TV. It's pretty much Sweden's national sport...thing as well. Side-fact, the last winter tournament was held at X-games in Aspen!
Anyway, if you actually try and get into the game, even at a beginner level/enough so you know a bit, and watch a few pro matches - you'll see it's just about as unpredictable as any sport out there. Players making insane shots, things that shouldn't work - work, things that should work - don't... all of those because of something incredibly small, etc. Just like in any sport.
Suppose it's not everyone's cup of tea anyway, as pointed out, but just throwing it out there that it's not the same as early 2000's any more. You can even bet on e-sports things!
Not in countries with normal internet it doesn't. Unlike New Zealand...Not to mention the lag monster, who reigns supreme.

Depends what game. 100+ ping on a non-console shooter should be with a visible delay in pretty much everything. MMO's have a different scale, 200-600 is usually alright with minimum delays.I regularly play on a 220 ping on online games. Used to it now and hardly ever notice a delay, but I bet it's there.
