Club secretary Dave Harrison has become a cult figure amongst fans
e is the familiar face who delivers every Everton signing, yet no-one knows anything about him.
Pictured smiling alongside every new arrival at Goodison Park, he has become something of a cult figure amongst Blues fans.
Yet Everton Club Secretary Dave Harrison is a well liked and enormously respected figure in football circles.
Listed on the official club website as part of Everton's Senior Executive Team, David was appointed to his role of Club Secretary and Head of Football Operations in 2002.
He previously worked at Manchester United, but in his current role clocks up more travel miles than Judith Chalmers. This week he was in Poland presenting an Everton contract to new signing Jordan Pickford.
He jets to wherever a new player is being signed from and helps oil the wheels of each deal, liaising with his opposite number and making sure every aspect of the transfer is covered such as work permits and player registration.
A real people’s person, Harrison’s diplomatic skills, assured manner and quiet competence make him a well-liked figure in football.
Acknowledged as one of the leading football administrators in the Premier League, David has also been appointed a non-Executive Director of Liverpool County FA, a member of the European Club Association and is regularly called upon to attend Premier League working groups.
But Evertonians only ever see him as the man who sits alongside new signings on the day they sign a contract.
Blues fans will be hoping to see a lot more of him this summer!
