So we still have to put up with Snides and Tosun for another year and a half☹️ Oh and Sigs 2 1/2 years

That's quite the albatross that Koeman and Walsh hung around our collective neck. I don't see how we finance a way out of this and stay legal under FFP, in all honesty.

That lot across the park was in more or less the same boat as we are under Rodgers a few years ago, so I looked at how they turned it around. Prior to that their transfer policy was a disaster, as we all know. Signing Suarez basically made up for squandering the rest of the Torres money, and they then largely squandered the Suarez and Sterling money with just Firmino to show for it. The ensuing performances led to Rodgers getting shown the door.

So what changed in the last few years? They were ace with the Coutinho money (van Dijk, Salah, Robertson and the Ox is an obscene haul even if the Ox was a whiff) and they made a few cheap buys/academy promotions that panned out big. They also got out of the 20-30 million pound discount window where we usually shop (most of these flop for both of us) and started making their bets either large or small, with an improved hit rate. But they still miss a lot.

How do they get away with that? From the day they canned Comolli forward, they sold their mistakes quickly. They didn't let them hang around long enough to prove that they were terrible beyond all doubt. They sold them for what they could and got them off the wage bill to fuel the next bet.

The only exception to this is the dross they bought with the Suarez money, which they bought at the discount window. Those players either ended up as pricy squad players or ran out their contracts.

Sound familiar (Lukaku money) to anyone?

Trouble is, we don't have a Coutinho to sell. It'll take some financial wizardry to get Carlo what he needs before 2022. Here's hoping that the board has a plan.

Mick Kegger £30M....has the compiler been on the same performance enhancing drinks as the Mutants!

Astonishing.

With only one year left to run on their deals, I’d be telling Schneiderlin and Walcott that they’re free to go with no fee just to get them out of the club.

In summer 2020 (coming up) we will lose all the players whose contracts are up (obviously) but can also send those up in 2021 on season long loans.

The key for me is the 2022 window, we must sell as many of those players whose contracts are up in the next 4 windows.

These 4 windows are critical.

We should be doing what @Nymzee 's 2nd team Leipzig are doing in France and going after the high potential young u21 players and giving them games (loans would also do).

We can sign 5 of them for less than the price of a Gylfi Sigurdsson and just need one of them to become a good player to make a profit.

Others like Richarlison, Digne and DCL will make a good profit...with a few good sales and some astute purchases it shouldnt be hard to turn around but will take 2.5 seasons i think.

Seen a few people asking when and who's contracts are up. Figured I'd find out and list it here for everybody.

The key summer for us is 2021 when several high earning players will be punted e.g Walcott, Schneiderlin, Bolasie, Sandro.

Also the remains of the deadwood will be out of contract in 2022 so they will be sold/loaned then.

So, not this coming summer but next summer we should start seeing a massive shift.

Pretty sure 90% of us looking in here went straight to see how long we have to endure schneiderlin for !! Frightening levels of dross here for years yet .

Two markets for me, 1) Playes we will naturally shed, 2) Players like Walcott and Snids we could get a nominal fee for and get them of the wage books this
summer.

I think financially we will have to sell at least 1 big player, we would rather not every summer for the next couple of years, like Gueye in the summer.

Clubs wont allow Walcott and Schneds to enter the last year of contract and leave on a free. They will get £3m the pair in the summer. Good to see Niasse and Martina will be gone. Are Sandro and Kevin M still our players?
