We have 11 players who are far behind the rest of the squad in quality. This is perhaps unfair on Oviedo who will likely be given another season while Garbutt is on loan and Robles who will be kept as backup keeper.
Hibbert/Osman/Gibson/Pienaar and Kone will be out of contract in 12 months time.
Howard/Barry/McGeady/Naismith are each on 2year+ contracts.
Hibbert/Osman/Gibson/Barry would not need replacing as we have plenty of centre mids and several right backs coming through in the next 12 months.
Pienaar/McGeady would need to be replaced by at least 1 left midfielder/winger (Henen?) Kone/Naismith would need to be replaced by a forward and Howard by a keeper.
Is it fair to say we could 'get by' with 3 players in and 9 players out?
Is Martinez planning to keep them all until their contracts expire and gradually replace them over the next 3 seasons or will we see one or two out this summer so the outgoings are not all going to happen in 1 and 2 seasons time?
Its usually not a good move to move out a lot of players in one go and can cost a lot of money as any quality replacements are not cheap but surely Martinez must make this a priority?
Please stop, I can't take much more.
