have you never been bu11sh!tted before? admin fees, outsourcing, tutor allowances, maintenance. maybe you should hold your breath and hope it stays at £150 for the year!

Lad i only wanted to know one thing, not go into a big consipiracy about were the money is going

You're witnessing a masterclass, and this is only Suits in second gear brother.

Tune in tomorrow, when Suits has been on the vino tinto and watch the fireworks.

Did somebody say "police corruption?"

I look forward to it. Thing is i agree with Suits, i'm obviously paying for all the mistakes and going to end up paying a huge tax if i get a job after uni. But all i'm after is an answer to my question really.

The government want you to be in their debt so they control you.

Those skills you learn will be put to use in this country and not abroad.

Think of Britain as your personal alcatraz.

They own you.

In summary: drop out and become a pimp.

ask the truck driver who you do a heart bypass for if your training is worthwhile.

ask the poor sod who the police fit up if your getting him off on judgement day is worth it.

if you are training in media studies and are only at uni for 3 years of a laugh and a good time, then you reap what you sow.

if you are at uni to better yourself and give yourself a better life and affect those around you positively then more power to you and £150 a year is very small percentage wise. imagine being on a state pension with gas, water, electric, and council tax going through the roof - imagine having to choose a winter of either no food or no heat. welcome to great britain, when the country can pay it will have the 'great' removed.

Lad, fair play to you for going off on one and i agree with parts of what you say, but bringing stuff about state pensions into it when all i was after was an answer, i don't see why? If you don't like the fact i'm moaning about £150 then fine but that has nothing to do with anything else such as why the country is making us all pay the debt we have.

I'm doing sports studies, my dream would be to work for Everton in the 'Everton in the Community' and manage their projects, so i hope you think i am doing something worthwhile.

They can do whatever the [Poor language removed] they want with tuition fees. They could put them up 400% year on year if they wanted to. Putting them up by 150 quid isn't actually that outrageous, you've just been unlucky to be in this particular year that you see the increase rather than it going up before you started.

If it was student loans that'd be different. That's probably where you've got a bit confused.

Ta mate that was all i was after, ya can close the thread now :P

On a micro level this is why your tuition fees are rising

BBC NEWS | Education | Lecturers stage strike action

If you want to blame someone, blame the Unions for thinking, as all unions do, of the workers rather than the customer (you). Or you could be in the Thatcher is a witch camp in which case power to the people.

On a macro level, the government are so up the creek they have resorted to printing more money. More money into the system means all existing money is worth less, ie inflation. The nice thing is that when you've used your education to get a nice job you'll be taxed even more to get the government out of the hole it's in.

with the greatest of respect, I was trying to encircle the rises in all sorts of things, and chose the basest to make a point. £150 over the year is like £3 a week, cut back on 2 pints! when you are on your arse and facing the difficulty pensioners face then I will have more sympathy. want to shout from the top most port? get on board with the fight against the drug companies. because they are milking you dry when they can as well, and just because you are fit and healthy now doesnt mean you shouldnt be disgusted by the profiteering they get away with.

In essence, I have never met a anybody ever in my life that was happy with a bill increase. If you are so early in your life that this fact is still a novelty, then revel in it because in a very short space of time it is going to become something that could very well make you cynical - because there are individuals and companies out there that get you to pay their increases as well as yours.
