Isn’t that just a place to land on your way to the Algarve tourist resorts?
you can take the boat taxi to the beach from Faro harbour. its a largeish town with good restaurants, shopiing (even has a decent Lidl) and is a convenient drive/bike ride to the beaches - or the aforementioned boat taxi. We stayed on the beach and went into Faro for shopping etc. Really nice place.

My fave place in Portugal is Tavira. It has a timeless even scruffy charm. Stroll down to the lagoon to catch a boat taxi across to pristine empty white sand beaches.

The boat taxis are driven by a modern day pirates who spend their days playing domino’s, drinking beer and eating freshly barbecued sardines in little shanty huts at the edge of the lagoon.

Tavira is fabulous. We had a great family holiday there when all the kids were little. My Mum, Dad, me and my two brothers and partners and the eight grandchildren. All In a huge villa. It was brilliant. Agree about the boat taxi drivers 🤣

Got an air bnb about an hour inland from there last summer in a tiny village. The hills and countryside are wild. Could easily live that life.
Also for some reason Tavira has the best Indian restaurant by far that I’ve been to in Portugal.
We would move there if we had fully remote work.

What makes you so suprised @JimmyJeffers
Cos if you buy street stuff here, you are guaranteed to be buying Novocaine mixed with chalk. There’s a whole business for it with people having their own territories. Unless you have a contact of course.
Makes an enjoyable Saturday evening, sitting on a street bar watching angry tourists try and find the guy who just ripped them for €300.

I have been told a few times it’s great there.

I go to a place called Carvoeiro. It’s very family orientated but not over touristy.

Port of Ferragudo is about 10 mins away. Lots of lovely quayside seafood.

Great-grandfather was from Lisbon. A mariner, did the European trades routes into Liverpool. Met a Liverpool girl, married, middle of the 19th century, and the rest is history...
