It was honestly amazing. I mean it was crap, but I can’t exactly unload planes from my home either.

@Baines' left foot got me addicted to DayZ as well.
I had to fly a fair bit during this time. Never seen Ryanair staff looking happier. As I was leaving a flight after all restrictions were lifted I heard one sadly saying to another that they were gutted it was all over.

The most frightening part for me was how quickly society surrendered to the state—and how easily people turned on each other.

That said, if COVID is the worst disaster your generation has faced, you’ve been lucky. Unless COVID was your death, of course.

What really gets me, though, is how many scandals and dodgy procurement deals have been swept under the rug. National emergencies always attract opportunists looking to line their pockets, but I’d like to think we live in a time where blatant corruption actually has consequences. Clearly, we’re not there yet.

Have posted some of this before..started working from home March 2020, which was ok, treated it as a novelty, but realised this was likely to be permanent when my employer closed the building I worked from and relocated to smaller premises that could not cope with all the staff if returning to the office. Fortunately the chance of early retirement came and I finished at the end of August 2020. :bye:A lot of my spare time was spent in queues, mostly outside supermarkets, as I was not only shopping for myself but also my brother and his wife, and my next door neighbours as both households were deemed vulnerable and told to stay indoors. One thing I did enjoy has a holiday to Istanbul in 2021 - I do not particularly like very crowded places and was always put off going knowing how busy it got there. With very few tourists it was excellent and I got to see all the sights with no problems. :D
When we got back discovered my local was not reopening and is destined to be knocked down and replaced by houses

As COVID hit we had 3 full shifts, then lads doing days and nights, went back in June 2021 and there was about 30 of us, it was awful.

As someone with severe auto immune issues, I found it a very interesting time to see people's true colours when it came to looking after the hardest hit, friends and family included.
I felt that generally there appeared to be a sense of community when it happened which eroded as it aged, but there are always massive bellends who don’t think the rules apply to them, and breach them under cover of assisting it was a sham, when it all it was, was them justifying their own selfish behaviour.
