We completely refurbished the pub (bar, cellar, added new panelling replaced all windows and doors and everything was redecorated) also ripped out and replaced its facilities ( Tables, chairs, Ladies and Gents toilets etc). Many pubs did exactly the same as opening 7 days a week normally gives little chance of making these sort of changes without major upheaval for customers…..

Must have been very difficult… what with social isolation and stuff going on 🙄

Five years ago the UK went into Covid lockdown.

How was it for you?

What did you do to pass the time?

Did it change anything for you long term?

Have you recovered?
I worked full time throughout from March until December without a week off.

I never even noticed to be honest, other than the missus being terrified of going out so after an hours commute each way and a 10 hour day I then, 3-4 times a week queued at Supermarkets for bog rolls and pasta!! The missus and kids had a great time at home as the weather was fantastic!

I’m not sure we would need another lockdown for Covid given how many people are vaccinated and it becoming less aggressive.

But if a similar thing happened again and lockdown was the sensible approach I’d be ok with that.

But I had a pretty nice lockdown as I moved in with my parents, which I was nervous about but worked out really well. And luckily had no one close to me die or have any bad side effects. Can completely understand why people that didn’t have that sort of experience would never want to go through it again.
Its alright, they'll create a new one that no one is vaccinated against! ;)

Personally it was one of the best periods of my life. Moved from UK to Thailand October 2021 and it was paradise with almost no tourists there for the first year. Empty beaches, accommodation prices a fraction of what they usually should have been, cheap flights, etc.

Obviously I can greatly sympathise for those that suffered due to the awful policies that were in place in the UK.

Hated the way we slid into being a nation of grasses and frightening how large sections of the population seemed to welcome having their lives controlled by the state with open arms.

" I no longer need to think or make decisions for myself anymore, as the state will do it for me, even if it`s wrong "

You only had to look at the way the self appointed covid marshal on here, slid into even more extreme views than normal and revelled in it.

On the plus side, it was a great time to be training for a marathon, when the country eventually opened up again.
