Crouch? Is that [Poor language removed] it?

Player Valuation: £70m
Ok, so its the most important game of the managers career, probably many of the players too with regards to International football.

So are you telling me that our only striking option is Peter Crouch? What about Walcott? Was good enough for the world cup squad but now he's not good enough for this game?

There must be other options. Lets face it when Owen and Rooney are injured, which is more often than not, we have no other option available to us. Well there are strikers out there, but they don't get the opportunity.

I bet any English striker out there who hears that Liverpool may want to sign them are enraptured, not because they get to smell scum all day, but because there chances of an England call up have risen by 100%.

That's my point there are strikers out there that are as good as him if not better, but because of their club standing they don't see the light of the day.

English strikers in the Premiership:

Walcott
Agbonlahar
Derbyshire
Kevin Davies
Ameobi
Nugent
Lita
Kitson
Ashton
Carlton Cole

All of which bar injuries are regulars in the Premiership. My point being is that we don't have contingency plans, the Italian must have several top class strikers who can come in.

I would also say that most of Crouch's goals have come against poor opposition, but I would also say that many of his goals have come from the Beckham cross/ball. Now he is not there, who is there to supply the crosses? SWP? I don't think so.

I'm not hopeful for tonights game, and 20% of me want us to lose so that McClaren can get booted.

Quite clear, McL is setting out not to lose. As for Crouch perhaps looking for knock downs to midfield coming up but to me it will dictate hoof ball tactics.

It merely reaffirms the paucity of McL ideas of football and was typical of his reign at Boro.

So your saying you'd rather see them strikers you have listed play ahead of Crouch tonight?:blink::huh:

I would. Crouch is [Poor language removed]. He hasn't scored a goal against any team higher than 75 in the FIFA ranking, which is pretty piss-poor for any team with a Heritage like England. England will qualify and we will be subjected to McLaren until after 2008, which is [Poor language removed]. He never should have gotten the job in the first place.

You can only score against who the opposition are...

Sorry lads, but I completely disagree that any of these players should play ahead of Crouch tonight.

Walcott
Agbonlahar
Derbyshire
Kevin Davies
Ameobi
Nugent
Lita
Kitson
Ashton
Carlton Cole

Walcott? Cant even score for Arsenal. Kevin Davies only scores past us, Ameobi? Nugent? Having a laugh? he's hardly set the Prem on fire has he? Lita? enough said. Carlton Cole?...

When given the chance, Crouch has delivered for England. To play an unproven player ahead of him in such a vital game would be just daft.

I think I'm going to join a new club. The Missed Point club.

I know we have no choice tonight, but that's the [Poor language removed] point, we have left ourselves with no options because we put all our stock in a bunch of players who are constantly injured and rarely turn it on for England. Plus the only player who has a record of providing goals on a regular basis is on the bench.

I think Crouch is bollocks. He's gangly, he's [Poor language removed] in the air, he can't go past players, he has no pace. He's just been lucky against some [Poor language removed] teams. Players like Lita, Carlton Cole, Kevin Davies were all potentially good players for England, but they are constantly overlooked because they don't play for big clubs.

Also, didn't Walcott score twice in the Champions League, yeah he did.

I'm just sick of this top 4 bollocks, it doesn't work, it has never worked.

Just cos they play for a top club doesn't always mean they are going to be top quality at International level, but what is worrying me is if we take Owen (injured), Rooney (injured) and Crouch ([Poor language removed]) out of the equation there isn't anything else. Why? because they don't even get a look in. And when they do play they come on as the 7th sub of a friendly when the side's shape is destroyed by a clueless manager.

As much as I dislike Crouch I would play him. He will do ok in that system with SWP and Cole feeding off him.

I think Darren Bent will be an option after 60 minutes.

I agree that our striking options arent looking great at the moment.

The players you have listed arent exactly setting the world on fire though are they?

I think AJ would have been ideal for this game if he was fit.
