Crypto currency (IF banned from CA)

AMZN and APPL both up larger % if you use the right time frame. In the end I don't think as many people hate crypto (though some do!) as much as they hate the crypto hawkers telling them "my magic beans are very different from your magic beans."

Still not sure anyone has ever actually answered my first question: is Crypto an asset or a currency? (It's the former, I suspect.)
I don't think so?

According to this, $100 at appl IPO would have got you ~$68,000 back - https://www.fool.com/investing/2019/11/24/if-you-invested-100-in-apples-ipo-this-is-how-much.aspx

Bitcoin went from sub $1 to $69,000, even at current price BTC outperforms it.

Crypto is best performing asset class of all time.

I have said many times BTC has totally failed in original vision of P2P digital cash, it is most definitely not a currency

It's this for me. The awful cultish nature of the fandom (I know not all people are like this). All the "stay poor", "get rekt" stuff.

Yes the stay poor stuff is particularly horrible

Agree; I'm white, male American, I'm ok. You can keep your tendies. That's how I feel when I read the "you just don't get it" responses. I will never be mega rich like those who trade in speculative assets largely because I don't have any appetite for that kind of risk. On the flip side, I have a lot of inherent financial and social security that most of the world can't enjoy (at least until the world turns on white people, like Louis CK describes...).

I just consider it to be just an algorithm. People are free to decide if that has any actual intrinsic value or not,but they cannot be considered as investible assets in world. Speculative instruments, sure.

Digital asset, realistically, by definition.

As @evilwebby said though, an algorithm and a farm, provided you have the money for the electricity bill lol

I have friends who made/make a very significant amount of money, I have friends who lost a very significant amount of money. Rarely is it someone coming up even, even then - was it worth saving up a grand or two to "enter the market" just to come back out after a stressful period of time with... a grand or two? Imho - no. To each their own though, it's funny seeing some of the crypto meltdowns at least, or the people who are in too deep - had a cabby the other day and the guy's car smelled like coffee and red bull, he had 3 mobile devices on his dashboard, only one of which was for the cab/taxi app; the other two were either side of the wheel and every red light he'd unlock both pretty much simultaneously to two different platforms, by the look of things. Mental and manic.

It's basically becoming betting for some people and that's something I can't get behind personally.
