I ain't sure that's the case. The normal issue would be, if they're about twenty-one, you wouldn't be able to register them as part of the PL squad.
This can only be done during set windows, bar emergency keeper additions. I do vaguely remember that this isn't the issue if they're below twenty-one.
Anyway, in the long-term, it will be better for his development to be there and to play, than come back for a game or two on the bench.
