Cycling thread

To show how abnormal this is, there has been just one winner of Flanders who has won a GT as well, and that was Bugno, who won a relatively soft Giro. This never happens.
That's not really true.
Eddy Merckx (who else) and Louison Bobet did win the tdf and Flanders. I think Pollentier won the Giro and Flanders as well...

What a fight that was. VDP.. was it luck or nerves of steel, after last year's Paris Roubaix I'm inclined to go for the first one.

Pogacar almost seems too good to be true. Never has a bad day that lad.

Sorry, I meant to say in the last 40 years or so. Since Merckx it really doesn't happen. Indeed, only Moser and Kelly in that period have even finished 2nd in Flanders and also won a GT, and I'd say all three of those (Moser, Kelly, and Bugno were unexpected GT winners rather than the winning machine Pog is). When you add in the Ardennes classics you're putting him into a category with just Merckx and Hinault.

Indeed.
He's on track to become legendary indeed. I hope he does it clean though. He never has a bad day, ever. That's unheard of (+ he's only 23)

Cycling might change thanks to lads like him, Van Aert and VDP..., back to the old days when nobody skipped classics for GT's or visa versa.

Probably 1 million people roadside today. Must feel special for the riders riding through a wall of sound for 200+k

Pog turned some strong men inside out on the Bergs today - he was clearly the strongest guy, very very nearly broke vdP on the Patterberg but not quite enough. He'll be gutted at the finish but he made the race time after time.

Brave of Asgreen going with Pog when he attacked on the Kwaremont first time - past the red and into the bilious green, looked like he was going to throw up.

This was like he was going through stragglers in a sportive

This year he won the UAE Tour, Strade Bianchi, and Tirreno, before 5th in MSR, 10th in Dwars and 4th today.

Pog is insane

Have to feel a bit for Roglic, he could have easily been Slovenias best ever cyclist , only for a one of the greatest of all time (potentially) to pop up
