Darren Bent - Opinions?

Does he do anything other than score goals?

By which I mean, does he hold up play, set up others, and contribuute more than goals to his team?

Does he need to do anything else? If he can put the ball in the back of the net every 1 to 3 games and become a 20 goal a season striker, he does not have to do anything else.

But I think Bent's secret to success is his strike partner Kenwyne Jones, when he was out with an injury, Bent was useless and not in the game. Who crossed in the ball for Bent to score against us? Jones. When Bent played for Spurs and his recent England appearance...he was awful and just not in the game. With Jones he is 1 half of one of the Prems most dangerous strike partnerships.

He could be a 20 goal a season striker with Jones, but I don't think Darren Bent is England quality. Just not that clinical and is not guaranteed to make an impact on the game, like Crouch or Defoe may do.

I'd rather have Heskey over him, despite his lack of goals. Every good moment England has had under Cappello, he has been there.

Not at club level. To be successful internationally, yes.

Englands set up is to bring the best out of Rooney. Bent would not do that in the way the Heskey, or even Carlton Cole could.

And if Rooney is injured?

For me, Bent and Defoe are 100% esential to the squad if we are to stand any chance of winning the World Cup.

You two remind me of these two:
