Some nice stuff said about him by his mate Stan Boardman on Citytalk this afternoon. I'll share an anecdote about him if I may.
My dad loved him, but nearly ran him over once, in 1998 (accidentally of course). We were waiting at the lights by what was the pub by the club shop, now a Chinese place.
The lights turned green, then this handsome chap in an EFC club suit came dashing across the road. My dad slammed on, and was about to shout "deary me" or something stronger, when he realised who it was. It was Dave Hickson, and my dad instantly lost all the rage that had built up, and gave an open mouthed wave. Dave Hickson waved back, with a cheeky wink, seeing the mass of Everton car stickers on the windows.
I'm glad we didn't run Dave Hickson over!
RIP, a bona fide Everton legend. Will be sadly missed by all. It's not often these days that no-one has a bad word to say about a person, but Dave Hickson was one of those people.
