….delighted to remember him playing. Let’s not forget, Burnley won an FA Youth Cup with Dave Thomas in the side, always an indicator of a top player.

He was an uncomplicated winger, able to get beyond his full back and clip brilliant crosses in with no back lift on the right or left side. players that make the difficult look easy are genius.

....apparently suffering from sight problems and now has a guide dog. This guy was one of our best ever wingers, second only to Johnny Morrisey. Bob Latchford would have struggled without him. It's tough to hear that he suffers from this. I did however like something he apparently said about modern wingers...."That Raheem Sterling is worth £49million – he couldn’t cross the road, let alone a football!".........
He fetched a book out 4 years ago, Pete - like you say a terrific winger for us

One of the best crossers of a ball I've ever seen, played when football was a hard man's game, with no shinnies and socks around his ankles.
It was also his ability to hit a cross on the run at full pelt.... seemed to know exactly where Bob was going to be. Only Liverpool and Forest ahead of us that season....

Socks around the ankles winger. Great player.

His eye problems are also explained in this book

A good book about the 77 / 78 side & what became of the players. I'm sure many on the forum old enough to remember the team have read it.
