I've had more than my fill of brand beckhams, occasionally cut the mustard on the field when it was required, occasionally let the side down. Rereading that it now occurs that he is singularly the flag carrier for that generation of talented lads that never realised their promise in their national shirt. And he's pals with ryan giggs, allegedly the russell brand of his time before unfunny russ turned up.

Where's Idal Tal's documentary? Eddie Bosnar? Is it true Mik Madar plays a mean saxophone?

Watching it and I'm surprised by how interesting it is. Partly a bit of nostalgia for the late 90s and early 00s. It's also a really revealing insight into the furore around his 98 world cup red card. I recall he took pelters, but looking back it was really over the top.

Shouldn't have been sent off, it was ridiculous. Looking back maybe a bit staged. Who knows. He was a boss player. Jammy get. I'm a similar age as him and haircuts aside it should be me. It should be me.

It should. be. me.

Although I might add, a little misguided at times ie supporting the Qatar world cup.
Genuinely don't think anybody here would turn down the money.

It's really easy to claim the moral high ground until you're in that position.

I'm not sure, if your net worth is 450mil, do you need to do it? But apart from that I've always liked him and his family, the crap they've put up with, the lies, the tabloids etc, nobody should go through that.

Watched the first 3 so far. Reminded me how much I used to love football before sky made it the branded pantomime of today. But also the enormous over-reaction by the media who equipped up the football fans over that sending off. That was well out of order. If anything the ref had to be called into question, it was a petulant flick, not serious foul play, everybody could see that. But the mob mentality of football fans is so often inhuman and unthinking. Hoddle clearly defending his own image rather than his squad didn't help. Can't say I ever warmed to him.

What talent that 90s Man U team had though.

In 40 years of watching football, the United team of the 90’s was probably the team I’ve enjoyed watching more than any other, they were phenomenal.

As a Salford lad, this was my family team and my team as a youngster. I grew into Everton in 1980 and switched allegiance. A few years later - wow! Ever since - ahhh jeeez.

You can imagine what I felt about my conversion during those 90s. Ffs Everton.
