David Moyes - Taking a knife to a gunfight at West Ham, Part 2

I am liking the but he would be crap if he lost players argument, to be honest.

I can understand it, if people were saying 1, maybe 2, players. However, I have seen more or less the whole team mentioned in these posts, with some individually mentioning 4/5 players.

Well, yes, any team in the world that has ever played the game will be weakened by the loss of half their first choice team. That is not a valid argument, in my opinion.

It will be very interesting to see how the season goes on but the fact he has them there, the matches they have won shows that he is a very very good manager. I think the failures have done him some good, there was probably some soul searching. He was getting stale with us, in a comfort zone and I see that affecting him in the few jobs he had after us. It looks, at this time, that he has learnt from this period.

Lets see where they are after 38 games.
They are flying at the minute but it wont last i'd guess they will finish between 6th-10th and no trophy.
there are only 3 trophies to win like. ofc it's likely that he won't win any (though he might), but top 5 finish is very probable now, which is great for a team like West Ham. think he may receive offers from clubs like Arsenal in June 2022 if that happens.

Mate we were 2nd on boxing day last season and finished 10th! there's only 11 games gone.
It was an empty seats season mate, a freak one IMO. It almost felt like it didn't count. This season is legit.

West Ham wont maintain this form for the next 6 months, even with a fully fit squad throughout the season they will struggle for top 5.
Yeah, I agree, anything can happen. His first 11 is very strong but the rest meh.

Now they have got a central defender with an acl injury they just need Rice and Antonio to be out for a period of time too and we'll see how they get on.

as we all know no team can expect to perform if their defender is missing through an ACL injury, apart from Everton of course who are expected to win games whilst 4 or 5 first team players are out injured.

Just so that you can get a chance to say, "West Ham / Moyes are no good", you are looking forward to having two human beings suffer.

Good on you mate..... Nice one....

I got no problems with West Ham doing well and I have never said Moyes is crap. My problem is with loads of people thinking that Moyes would be the answer HERE in the middle of an injury crisis just because he is doing well there. He's had a period of time where everything has gone swimmingly and unfortunately at somepoint players are out/unavailable. It's at that point then we'll have a better idea what it would be like. Also where did I say I want them to suffer? Rice and Antonio could be sent off and both miss 3 games that way.

Sure, that's what you meant, if you say so. BTW, Antonio was rested this season in some games and was missing last season towards the end, I think. Still, they managed.... But, sure let's see if the two players you mention go missing (through red cards of course, as you mentioned) and still they perform.

Maybe the fact that they have less injuries in spite of playing more games than us might point towards better personnel management at West Ham. Sure I have no idea if that is so, but sure seems like it.
