David Moyes - Taking a knife to a gunfight at West Ham, Part 2

Honestly think apart from Martinez's first season the football was better under Moyes. We had spells where we reverted to terrible stuff in order to grind out results but more often than not we were good to watch.

I agree, I probably should have put 'hoofball' in air quotes, to be honest. I have never taken to the 'hoofball' term, when referring to how Moyes played. There were times where we were direct, especially when Fellaini was being used as a makeshift centre forward. But I put 'hoofball' in the realms of aimless(ish) balls down the middle for flick ons, etc. I thought that most of the time we were much more measured than that.

Not necessarily good to watch, more competitive for sure. Martinez should have been given more time IMO with a larger budget to work with. Moshiri is way too trigger happy when it comes to changing managers albeit Ancelotti leaving wasn’t his fault

When we got Arteta, Pienaar etc on the pitch it was decent. Problem always came when we had injuries and we turned more pragmatic.

Or maybe Moyes should have been given more money so he could afford some/more flair players?

We were always a few players short, even when he out his best squads together

Hoof when he was with us football .... he has a good squad at West ham .....
Absolute myth. Arteta, pienaar, cahill, baines, mirrallas.
Went direct at times, worked on set peices, but we played good football too.
Walter smith and Joe royle played worse football. Barely scored a goal that wasn’t a goal mouth scramble

Injuries are starting to catch up for moyes...no zouma for 12 weeks will be a huge miss alongside ogbonna missing for the season. Let's see how they manage in the next few weeks...hopefully we can close that gap a fair bit
